I am motivated to run for the School Board because I believe every child deserves access to a safe, supportive, inclusive, and high-quality education. As a parent and current Board of Education member, I understand that the decisions made by the Board have a lasting impact not only on our students, but also on families, teachers, staff, and the entire community.
I bring a combination of professional experience, leadership, compassion, and a strong commitment to service. Professionally, I have more than 20 years of experience as a paralegal and office manager. My work has taught me how to review complex information, communicate effectively, manage responsibilities, solve problems, remain organized, and make thoughtful decisions while considering different perspectives. I understand the importance of confidentiality, accountability, policy, and working collaboratively toward a common goal.
As a mother, I also bring the perspective of someone who understands that every child is different and that every family wants to know their child is seen, valued, challenged, and protected. I am willing to ask difficult questions, listen carefully, advocate when necessary.
My overall priority as a School Board member is to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education in an environment where they feel safe, supported, included, and challenged to reach their full potential.
One of my primary priorities is academic achievement and student growth. We must continue to provide strong instruction while recognizing that students learn in different ways and may require different levels of support. I want to ensure that we are identifying learning gaps early, providing appropriate resources, and also creating opportunities for students who are ready for greater academic challenges.
Another important priority is student safety, mental well-being, and a sense of belonging. A child cannot perform at their best academically if they do not feel safe, respected, and valued at school. I believe we must continue addressing bullying, promoting kindness and respect, and creating an environment where every student knows that they belong.
I also believe we must support and retain quality teachers and staff.
Given budgetary constraints, I believe the Board must approach cost savings carefully and strategically. My priority would be to protect classroom instruction, mandated programs, student services, and our ability to attract and retain high-quality teachers and staff.
Before considering reductions that directly affect students, I would look closely at non-instructional and administrative expenses, including contracts, purchasing practices, professional services, technology subscriptions, utilities, transportation costs, and other recurring expenditures. Regularly reviewing contracts and seeking competitive pricing can identify savings without reducing educational opportunities.
I would also focus on shared services and cooperative purchasing with neighboring districts and other public entities when practical. Sharing certain services, resources, training opportunities, or purchasing agreements can potentially reduce costs while maintaining quality.
Another priority would be reviewing existing programs and expenditures to determine whether they are producing the intended results. We should not continue spending simply because something
I would support policies that focus on education, prevention, student well-being, and responsible technology use. Social media is a part of our students’ lives, so our responsibility should be to help them develop the skills necessary to navigate it safely and thoughtfully.
One priority should be strengthening digital and media literacy education. Students should learn how to evaluate online sources, distinguish fact from opinion, recognize manipulated or misleading content, verify information before sharing it, and understand that something appearing repeatedly on social media does not necessarily make it true.
I would also support age-appropriate education about the effects social media can have on self-esteem, mental health, cyberbullying, and peer pressure. Students need to understand that what they see online is often carefully selected, edited, or filtered and may not reflect someone's real life.
At the same time, I believe parents and guardians should be important partners in this effort. The district can provide families with resources and educational opportunities to help them understand changing social media platforms.
