The East Amwell Township School District serves public school students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade at East Amwell Township School. I have resided in East Amwell Township for 39 years, and have been a member of the Board of Education for the past 24 years. My children attended East Amwell school and although they are now adults, I remain committed to ensuring the current and future students of the district receive the same quality education that my children were fortunate enough to experience. I am a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in Flemington, and have worked in the mental health and family service fields for over 35 years. A significant portion of my practice involves working with children and adolescents, so I am well informed of the challenges and concerns facing this population.
The educational priorities I would like to accomplish are clearly outlined in our board of education goals for the 2026-2027 school year. They are: continuing to promote academic achievement while maintaining fiscal responsibility, promoting age-appropriate use of technology, and supporting student social, emotional and mental health well being.
For many years, the board has sought out and utilized all available resources to enable us to maintain critical programs and instructional goals. We have been sharing services with other districts and the community, which has proved to be extremely cost effective.
I would support and advocate for policies that provide wellness resources to students, referrals to mental health services, and providing afterschool activities that promote in person interaction, connection with peers and opportunities to practice social skills.
