The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District is comprised of North Hunterdon High School located in Annandale, NJ and Voorhees High School located in Glen Gardner, NJ. All together, the district educates about 2,700 students from 12 different municipalities. It also has one of the largest Boards of Education in the state with 12 members, who each have a weighted vote. Each member serves a three-year term.

Involvement in Community
6 Years in CTSD School Board, Non-Profit Youth Community Theater President, Parent Theater Coordinator for NHHS, NHMA Support, HBYS Board Member, Previous coach for NHYB,
After serving on the Clinton Township School District (CTSD) School Board for 6 years (from 2018-2024), I'm looking to shift my efforts to the high school level. While serving on the CTSD Board, I contributed to renewed stability for the district, including the hiring of the current superintendent, Dr. Stager. Our Board was also able to support the successful negotiations of Teacher Contracts without excessive tax increases, typically keeping taxes capped to the allowed 3/5% (plus any banked caps). I also served on the Facilities & Finance, Personnel, and Policy committees while I served on the CTSD Board.
Professionally, I am a VP of Marketing overseeing Education & Training, Digital Tools/Website, Product Management, Product Marketing, Corporate & External Communication, and Branding/Trade Shows. I have a Servant Leadership style, with the motto, "No one succeeds unless the team succeeds."
With ever rising costs, my priority would be to ensure classrooms, arts/theater/music, and sports are funded with quality in mind, while looking for ways to reduce operational and administrative expenses. As a team, the Board should look at data to review programs based on their costs and their associated metrics. When the District offers a program, how popular is it? How many students use it? What is the actual impact? How is the program publicized? In addition, I would also look for opportunities to expand cooperative purchasing and shared services agreements, ensure contracts are bid competitively, develop a more cost effective transportation strategy, and use technology to streamline administrative processes where appropriate.
I also think we should look at available Grants and look at other revenue-supporting initiatives, including facility usage opportunities for local area non-profits. I also want to better understand the long term strategic plan, and ensure the District is prioritizing preventive maintenance, responsible capital planning, administrative rightsizing, and staff retention.
One of our goals on the CTSD Board was to improve communication, renew trust in us, and improve transparency. We were able to update the website, develop newsletters, and introduce Coffee & Conversation to encourage parents to ask questions without judgement. I believe the NHVSD does a good job of high level communication, but I do think we can do a better job in giving the public better insight into what the Board does. I also think there should be more public input into the Strategic Planning Sessions, and we should continue to encourage parents and other community members to help create and support our future vision.
In the business world, we have been using AI interwoven into our processes for the past few years. But, the business world is absolutely not the student world and we need to ensure that our policies are developed by those with expertise in this area. Given that I am not in the public school sector, I would rely on the expertise of those in the public school setting along with our own staff to support the evaluation and/or creation of those policies.
