My experience as a maintenance department manager as well as a production leader in manufacturing provide a wealth of knowledge idealy suited for the leadership, problem solving and oversight necessary for being a Township Board Member.
Wea Township is experiencing unprecedented growth in commercial and residential construction. Proper fiscal planning is necessary to anticipate the needs of such growth and ensure we have the resources available to provide assistance, services and protection. My experience in fiscal planning will make this happen.
Creating a user friendly digital hub to keep the public informed and engaged in real time. Providing easy to follow online instructions and interactivity for getting help and having full-time in-person office staff ensuring that every citizen has access to the services and protection that they are entitled to.
I believe my 24 years of experience serving on the Township Board, along with my strong connection to the community, gives me valuable experience to continue serving the residents of Wea Township.
I am a graduate of McCutcheon High School and have been a resident of Wea Township for over 45 years. During my 24 years on the Board, I have developed a thorough understanding of township government and the responsibilities in providing essential services with the hybrid fire department, township assistance, cemetery and park maintenance.
I understand the importance of carefully managing taxpayer dollars, reviewing budgets and expenditures, maintaining fiscal responsibility, and making sure township resources are used wisely. .
One important challenge facing Wea Township is providing strong fire department/EMS protection as the community continues to grow with recruiting and maintaining members for the Community Fire Department . Population growth and new development can increase the demand for fire and emergency services, requiring adequate staffing, equipment, facilities, and funding. At the same time, township governments must consider the new state laws requiring township consolidation. I would work with the other members of the Board and the Trustee to make sure that the township has to the proper equipment to provide reliable fire and emergency medical services.
I would like to work with the Trustee and Board to improve relief services by having a Wea Township Trustee website. This would be a powerful, modernized step toward ensuring relief services and transparency by reaching those who need them most with
o An online township assistance application process by having downloadable forms for housing and utility relief with eligibility criteria, documentation checklists, etc.
o Post township board meeting dates, times of meetings, agendas and minutes of those meetings, options to watch the live meetings to keep the residents updated and also have
o Rec Center Rental Information with rate pricing and rental terms.

Experience in Leadership and Management
As a Head Start teacher I learned how to work with a diverse population. I retired from the USPS with thirty years of service, beginning as a Letter Carrier, progressing to Postmaster, Mgr. Consumer Affairs/Gov. Relations, and Communication Specialist where I managed the WEE Delivery program in schools throughout the nation and was responsible for outreach to over 600,000 employees.
I was born and raised in Wea Township where I lived on the family farm that I now own and operate. My education and work experience, let me develop my skills and prepared me for a Board position. I have been responsible for operating budgets, managing training programs, and arranging communication for employees. I have worked with teams, and will bring this experience to the Board.
Wea Township is growing. This board will need to be responsible for more citizens. While taxes are increasing, cost are rising. Tax payers will want and need more transparency in how this board makes decisions affecting OUR community. Feedback sessions and communications are vital. I would work with the trustee and other board members to set up a system of Staying Connected with the tax payers on meeting times, locations and information sharing. Input from this growing community will assist the board to make decisions based on their needs and concerns. Developing community relations and receiving input from those we serve, will assist the board in the fulfillment of their duties.
COMMUNITY BUILDING: Establish volunteer groups, partnerships on mental health, budgeting, not just monetary assistance. Help people to help themselves by providing information on other local groups and services available in the community.
COMMUNICATIONS: Create a web site where people can get information. A One Stop Shop before making a trip to the office. Post meeting times, budgets, future projects, hours, feedback, what forms are needed and information on how to use those forms when applying, are some actions I would implement.
COMMITMENT: Work with other board members, trustee to review budget and develop future needs based on community growth, monies, feedback. See funds are used responsibly. Follow and uphold the rules, and laws.

Over 35 years of Management and Engineering experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing at Eli Lilly, Evonik and Elanco (Retired 2025), Christ UM Church (Volunteer Youth Group Leader 25 years, Served as Council Chair as well as other Leadership Roles), Lafayette Park Foundation Board Member, Salvation Army Advisory Board
I attended McCutcheon and earned a Chemical Engineering degree from Purdue. My professional experience includes serving as a director at a large manufacturing plant, managing substantial budgets, and leading diverse teams. I've held leadership roles in my church and community and value problem-solving, communication, and service. Over 28 years ago, I ran for this board to represent Wea Township, where we lived and where my wife’s family owned farm property. Since then, I have supported key improvements, including Wea Rec Park and a hybrid volunteer/paid fire service model to enhance safety and reliability. I remain committed to keeping township expenses at or below the state-approved budget while expanding and improving services.
A key priority in Wea is sustaining a strong, reliable fire service for the safety of our community. Each day, I see the firefighters of Wea Township-true heroes-respond to emergencies as their vehicles pass my home. Ensuring they have the right equipment, facilities, and staff remains critical. Our transition to a hybrid paid/volunteer model reflects a national trend and helps ensure dependable response times. Still, a strong volunteer core remains essential and must be addressed. I’ll work closely with the Trustee to ensure we continue to provide excellent emergency services. A recent challenge I hope to address is modernizing the township’s communication methods to ensure residents can easily access important information/services.
In my retirement I’ve been volunteering at the Salvation Army Food Pantry bi-weekly, seeing community challenges firsthand. Township assistance requests (not unlike Food Bank demands) fluctuate with economic conditions and demographics. Public records for Wea show an average of 102 annual requests from 2023–2025, up from 25 annually in 2020–2022, a significant increase. Due to privacy laws, improvements depend on feedback from the Trustee, Deputy Trustee, and Township Administrator. Fortunately, we have an experienced office team supporting this work. Looking ahead, my focus will remain on maintaining a knowledgeable team of employees, ensuring adequate staffing levels, and adjusting office hours as needed to meet growing demand.
