Responsible budgeting to keep Oakland affordable, improved communication to better inform residents, handling unwanted, costly, and community changing mandates coming out of Trenton without community input
Having attending many budget meetings for both Oakland and where I work in Roseland - and also working in a Borough Hall for my full time employment, I know what its like to be on the inside of government. This is important to recognize what are actually needs versus wants and to strike the balance of handling what needs to be accomplished and what can be scaled up or put on the back burner to not be a burden to Oakland taxpayers. Being a volunteer on both a non-profit and a governmental commission, I bring that experience along as well. Also having brought a dog park to Oakland, I learned about working with both public and private sectors to accomplish a goal and raising money to make things happen.
I want to ensure that Oakland continues to not put off important investments that we need to take place and also not be short-sighted about our future, but at the same time, putting things into perspective and priority based on what Oakland needs and what residents want to see.

I am opposed to the affordable housing developments that are being mandated by the State of NJ and forced onto our town, which leads to cutting down trees, creating more impervious surfaces, and reducing habitat areas for animals. I am in favor of the work of the Shade Tree Commission to encourage more tree planting and support efforts to give away more mature trees to residents who want one, as little saplings unfortunately wind up becoming eaten by wildlife and are not given a chance to grow and mature.
