There are many important issues facing our state, almost too many to list. Although I pass legislation regarding various issues, there are certain issues on which I focus because I have specific experience and knowledge in those areas. Also, I like to focus on spaces in which no one else working. For example, in recent years, I have worked to pass legislation in the areas of suicide prevention, intervention, and post-vention, supporting the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, holding bad home contractors accountable, protecting victims of sexual assault, and reform in the ares of criminal justice, incarceration, and campaign finance.
I have supported/cosponsored multiple pieces of legislation regarding homelessness and affordable housing, including work on rent stabilization legislation. With that being said, I recognize that homelessness does not exist in a bubble. It intersects with many other issues, issues for which I have worked on and passed legislation.
I have fully supported all such efforts and will continue to do so. I’m proud that during each election cycle including this one, I have received the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction.
For 13 years, I worked in Medicaid and state health programs including the Delaware Prescription Assistance Program (DPAP), the Delaware Healthy Children Program (CHIP), and the Delaware Cancer Treatment Program (DCTP). I am very familiar with the struggles of Delawareans who cannot access affordable healthcare. In office, especially as a member of the House Health & Human Development Committee, I work to ensure that all Delawareans—especially our most vulnerable including seniors, children, individuals on the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum, and undocumented immigrants—can access affordable healthcare.
