I love helping people understand how local government works so that together we can improve the quality of life for all residents. I'll also ensure that our County codes are as strong as they can be to ensure New Castle County is a great place to live, work, and play.
For twelve years, I worked as a legislative assistant in New Castle County government, gaining firsthand experience through several County Executive transitions. My role working directly with the Land Use co-chair provided me with valuable insight into land use and development, especially when it came to securing the future of the historic Samuel Black house in La Grange. Being responsive and connecting clients with the right resources has been central to my work throughout my career, and it’s a skill I rely on daily. My focus has always been on improving the quality of life for those I serve, advocating for every community and volunteer board member. You call, I answer, every time.
In our operating budget, we need to reevaluate our programs to ensure the ones we have are the ones we need. Ongoing property reassessment. Residents, and particularly seniors, need to be able to apply for property tax exemptions and appeals easily. And data center regulation needs to be codified in ways that make it easy for developers. They should easily understand what can and cannot be built in approved zoning. I would like to create a zoning category just for this use to make it easier to update as we encounter changing technologies.
Reduce roadblocks to developing affordable housing by fast-tracking projects that contain a majority of affordable housing units. Putting resources in place to help developers identify where these plans could be located. I have been hand-walking some projects through this process, and there are a lot of areas we could streamline.
Yes, we need to make sure that growth and development are placed where infrastructure already exists and is close to resources.
I will continue to be available to meet with communities, one-on-one, and virtually at the convenience of my constituents, and to host and participate in Town Halls and Constituent Coffees. Whenever possible, I answer my phone when the call comes in or return the call the same day. I also return emails immediately. Being responsive to concerns is very important to me. I regularly volunteer in ways that take me into underserved communities and work with organizations and faith-based groups that focus on minority issues and concerns.

For twenty years, Newark’s District 5 has been my home. My children grew up here, attended our local schools, and built lasting friendships. My work in the nonprofit sector spans more than two decades, serving families, youth, and vulnerable communities. I also serve on the Christina School District Citizens Budget Oversight Committee, giving me firsthand insight into how financial decisions affect students, educators, and taxpayers.Over time, I’ve seen concerns in District 5 intensify. Residents often tell me they feel unheard,frustrated by the recent issues.With encouragement from neighbors, I decided to step forward. If elected, I will lead with transparency, accountability, and genuine community engagement.
I come to public service without political baggage. My experience comes from more than two decades of nonprofit leadership, where I learned that real solutions start with listening to people and understanding issues at the ground level. I also bring strong budgeting and finance expertise, supported by master’s degrees in Physics & Electronics and an MBA in strategy and finance from New York University. I’ve already visited more than 1,000 homes, hearing residents’ concerns directly. People want leadership that is present and accountable. My commitment is simple: listen first, understand needs, and raise community voices with transparency and integrity if elected.
1. Need more guardrails on Data Centers - Whole community is in fear of possible increase in utility bills and harm to environment.
2. People are extremely dissatisfied with property tax increase, the way reassessment happened. Many residents lost confidence in District 5 county council members for not defending these in the first place.
3. Open space is a big issue, need to stop unchecked development as this is putting high pressure on environment, traffic and over all county ecosystems.
4. Many people think that there is no leader in District 5 to defend them or represent them in county council. Lack of interaction with residents and leaders is the biggest issue.
For affordable housing, we need not go behind new open spaces, there are many unused, underutilized properties like abandoned warehouses, county lads are available. We need to tap those places and provide builders at lower cost to build affordable housing. Reduce soft costs and expedite approval process and reduce burden on both developers in that way it is a win-win situation for all parties. Identify properties near transportation hubs to reduce the parking obligations, promote affordable housing to different needy groups. We need to check options for bringing these projects under different tax brackets and provide incentives to build these homes.
We need a major shift in strategy. A thorough SWOT analysis of existing projects is essential, and those with poor ROI should be reconsidered. Our biggest challenge is unchecked development and poor land use planning in already crowded areas. Open spaces and parks are the lungs of our community, and we cannot afford to lose them. Rapid development has put heavy pressure on 896 and Route 40, creating congestion and safety concerns. We must first improve roads, infrastructure, speed controls, and traffic lights before approving new projects. Residents feel strained and unheard. A new roadmap and new leadership are very much needed.
I come from a small minority community, and I understand how important minority involvement is in local decision making. Many minority families face challenges such as limited confidence in pursuing leadership roles, financial instability, fear of backlash, and concerns about how their children are treated in mainstream settings. I want to help change that. I will promote interfaith collaboration, hold town halls focused on minority issues, and educate families about their rights and protections. I will work with focus groups to highlight concerns and ensure minority voices remain part of my campaign , and, if elected, part of my ongoing work.
