Fiscal stability is my first priority. Proposed changes in Tallahassee could impact municipal revenues, and Wilton Manors must protect essential services without burdening residents. As Mayor, I will work with our legislative delegation, regional partners, and city staff to safeguard our finances. We must prepare for Florida’s new anti-DEI law, effective January 1, 2027, ensuring city policies remain compliant while upholding our values of inclusion and respect. Over the next two years, I will prioritize housing affordability that preserves neighborhood character, along with infrastructure improvements, including wastewater capacity, stormwater systems, and resiliency projects, to protect residents and keep our city vibrant and sustainable.
Wilton Manors has taken an important step by joining the countywide solid waste initiative, but signing the agreement is only the beginning. Residents and businesses must understand their role in the system’s success. First, we need stronger public education on waste reduction and recycling. Clear, consistent outreach can reduce contamination, improve recycling rates, and lower costs. Second, the City should expand reuse partnerships with local organizations to encourage donation, repair, and repurposing, while continuing collection events for electronics, hazardous waste, and bulk items. As Mayor, I will ensure Wilton Manors remains engaged regionally to protect taxpayers and deliver reliable, cost-effective service for all residents now.
Affordable housing is one of South Florida’s greatest challenges and requires collaboration across municipal, county, and state governments. While Wilton Manors cannot solve this issue alone, we must be proactive. As Mayor, I will continue working with the Broward County Housing Authority and regional partners to advance workforce and attainable housing solutions. We must move beyond discussion and pursue strategies that help working families, seniors, and essential workers remain in our community. By leveraging grants, funding, and incentives, we can expand housing opportunities without burdening taxpayers. All initiatives must be thoughtfully planned to preserve neighborhood character and quality of life for all residents. long-term plan.
The potential reduction or elimination of property taxes represents one of the most significant financial challenges municipalities have ever faced. If these proposals move forward, Wilton Manors must respond strategically while protecting essential services. My first priority would be preserving core services, especially public safety, infrastructure, and quality-of-life programs. Any service reductions must be data-driven, transparent, and include public input. Before cuts, I would pursue grants, regional partnerships, and shared services to improve efficiency. We must also advocate for sustainable funding so Wilton Manors remains fiscally strong and resilient despite uncertainty in Tallahassee and beyond, protecting residents daily now.
Throughout my eight years on the City Commission, I have made accessibility, transparency, and engagement central to my public service. Residents are more likely to support decisions when they feel heard and included. I have maintained an open-door approach, meeting with residents, businesses, and community groups to gather input before major decisions. As Mayor, I will ensure engagement happens early in the decision-making process so every resident feels City Hall is accessible and responsive. By fostering respectful dialogue, increasing transparency, and encouraging participation, we can strengthen trust in government and build a stronger, more unified community together for the future of Wilton Manors with shared purpose and vision now.
