Please describe your priorities for your term in office and your specific qualifications to effectively address those issues.
What do you see as the most pressing housing-related issue in Wisconsin, and what policies, if any, would you support to address the issue?
What redistricting process, if any, do you believe the legislature should put in place before the next national census to ensure fair representation for voters?
What, if anything, will you do to ensure our schools have the resources to improve outcomes for its students, including those with disabilities?
What guardrails, if any, would you support to protect our environment, health, property values, and household budgets from large projects such as hyperscale data centers and Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs)?
I am proud to be born and raised in the Chippewa Valley. My husband and I were proud to raise our children here. I understand the challenges we face as a community and I go to work everyday trying to make life better for those in the Chippewa Valley.
In the Assembly, I am fighting to make housing and child care more affordable, getting tax relief to small businesses, and taking on health care companies to cover important medical care and protecting families’ ability to access IVF treatment. I am working to make Wisconsin a state where everyone can live, work, and raise a family.
In every county of our state, we have a housing crisis. We just simply aren't building enough and the housing that is being built is not affordable for those who need it. We have made some incredible investments in housing over the past session or two and we are seeing more housing available around the state. However, home ownership feels out of reach for the vast majority of young adults. Home ownership is the main wealth building tool that so many have and we need to do what we can to make sure people can buy houses if they want to pursue that. Having down-payment assistance is one policy that the state can do to help breakdown the barrier to home ownership.
We need to find the "Wisconsin model" we cannot rely on the Iowa model because our states are different in population and where folks live. I favor having a non-partisan redistricting council but ultimately the decision needs to be made by the legislature. If the legislature cannot agree, the courts must step in.
We need to change the funding formula for our schools and that includes making sure that public dollars stay with public schools.
There needs to be local control of these issues. Far too often we are seeing out of state investors forcing these large projects on areas. The people in charge are not impacted by the water pollution, the air pollution or other factors. There needs to be local input.
