Personal Pronounshe/him
1. Health Care. Enhance Badger Care to include farmers, independent contractors, and small business with less than 100 employees. Seriously consider Badger Care as a Universal Health Care option for Wisconsin. I have learned a lot about these issues meeting with hospital CEOs, small business owners, and my own company's struggle to give our employees reasonably priced health care options.
2. School Funding. The rural schools in my district are currently surviving off referendums. I have meet with school superintends and school boards and understand the issues they are struggling with currently. We need to scrap the current school funding formula and write new. We need to cancel the school voucher system; public tax funds should not be used to fund private school.
3. Rural Road Funding: We need to change the road funding and provide the counties and towns with funding to repair the existing road network. I have roads in my district that have not been repaired in 20 years.
Affordability of good housing in my area caused by speculators, lake shore property prices and realtors. I average at least 3-4 calls per week from speculators / land companies trying to buy my 150 acres of land. This is driving up prices so the average resident in my district cannot afford to purchase a home. I'm not sure how to handle this issue, but I am open to any collaboration on addressing potential solutions to this issue.
Non-partisan commission overseen by the State Supreme Court to determine legislation districts for both state and federal districts.
I support the scrapping of the current school funding program and passing a bill that totally funds the school districts to include special education, mental health resources, and special disabilities. I have a son that struggled all through school due to the lack of funding to support his dyslexia.
I believe in local authority over those type operations with NDAs not being allowed. The DNR needs the ability to regulate and control these operations especially if their operations have any impact on the environment. I am in an area that is currently fighting a CAFO and winning the battle at the town level. We also have an AI center supported by Republicans that is currently being battled by a Grass Roots organization (GROWW). The state legislature needs to allow the local governments to control the authorization to build these operations with oversite from the DNR to ensure environmental impact procedures are followed and not over-ruled.
