Fully fund public schools and special education. Extend healthcare (retirement, etc) benefits to all Wisconsinites - the same that the state employees enjoy. Restore funding to the Knowles-Nelson DNR Stewardship Program. I am a former public educator and higher education public educator and know from the inside out how funding works or doesn't work for local schools and families. As the current Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee for Green Lake County Board, I have been kept updated on the struggles that folks have been facing with affordability and coverage for basic medical services I was instrumental in bringing a resolution to the Board last spring in hopes that the legislature would extend the KNDNR funding it didn't!
Lack of inventory and related affordability. My wife and I run a small business as real estate agents and see first hand how difficult it can be to find adequate housing - especially for first time home buyers. There are many solutions, but one of them can be a partnership using all the resources needed from the Counties, UW Extension experts, and state of Wisconsin to create public-private partnerships to begin to solve these complex issues.
The current redistricting process is working as it should, currently and has been litigated to death. It is time to spend more time on meeting with voters and having candidates who are aware of issues facing voters vs. continuation of more law suits, etc.
Once and for all disentangle the overly complex funding formula. A formula that is unfair and intentionally complex. It doesn't need to be that way! As a decades-long advocate for students with disabilities, I won't be satisfied until public schools are fully funded for special education students and related services. It might also be worth looking at requiring private schools to serve students with disabilities if they receive public funding.
I am in favor of an immediate moratorium on data centers until the research catches up with their rapid expansion. I am unsure what CAFOs are? Are they what used to be called "factory farms?" This is an area I need more education and information to make an educated response - quite honestly. However, I can say that I would put environmental responsibility over irresponsible farming practices that may harm the environment. In the end, I trust family farms/farmers to conduct themselves appropriately.
