I am the best candidate for Carver County Sheriff because I bring nearly 28 years of law enforcement experience, including 23 years serving Carver County and more than seven years as Chief Deputy Sheriff. I have led every major division of the Sheriff’s Office, including Patrol, Investigations, Jail Operations, Communications, Emergency Management, and Administration. I understand our staff, operations, and communities, and I am prepared to lead on day one. My priorities are public safety, strong community relationships, mental health response, staff wellness, technology, transparency, and accountability. I am committed to building on the success that has made Carver County one of Minnesota’s safest counties.
My top priorities as Sheriff are public safety and community relationships, improving mental health response, and investing in our employees. Public safety is strongest when residents trust and engage with their Sheriff’s Office. We must continue building partnerships throughout the county. We also need effective, compassionate responses to mental health challenges. Finally, recruiting, developing, and retaining exceptional employees is essential to maintaining a professional and trusted agency.
Transparency builds trust. As Sheriff, I will provide timely and accurate information, maintain strong relationships with residents and local media, and use data to report agency performance and outcomes. I support clear policies, professional accountability, body-worn cameras, and meaningful community engagement. Residents deserve to understand how decisions are made, how resources are used, and how their Sheriff’s Office is serving them with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
My leadership style is rooted in situational leadership, collaboration, accountability, and servant leadership. Since becoming a supervisor in 2011 and Chief Deputy Sheriff in 2019, I have focused on developing strong teams, supporting employee wellness, and building a culture of trust and professionalism. I believe leaders must adapt to circumstances, communicate clearly, set expectations, and provide staff with the tools and support needed to succeed while serving others with integrity.
Gun violence harms families and communities. The Sheriff’s Office can help prevent it through proactive policing, early intervention, and strong partnerships with schools, mental health providers, and community organizations. We support responsible firearm education and provide free gun locks and safety materials. By investing in youth programs, addressing mental health needs, building trust, and holding offenders accountable, we help create safer communities.
The Sheriff’s Office’s first responsibility is protecting the residents of Carver County and enforcing Minnesota law. We work closely with our local, state, and federal partners on crimes like human and sex trafficking to protect victims and hold offenders accountable. These partnerships provide valuable resources and expertise while keeping our focus on public safety, victim protection, crime prevention, and maintaining the trust of the communities we serve.

I am the best candidate for Carver County Sheriff because I bring proven command-level leadership, nearly four decades of law enforcement experience, and a track record of managing complex public safety operations. Throughout my career, I have led patrol, detention, administrative, and communications functions while managing personnel, budgets, and strategic initiatives. My experince gives me a deep understanding of the challenges facing today’s Sheriff’s Office. Carver County deserves a Sheriff who can step into the role on day one, provide strong leadership, build partnerships, and move the organization forward. My experience, professionalism, and commitment to public service make me uniquely qualified to serve as Caver County Sheriff.
My top three priorities will be:
1. Recruitment and retention of deputies and staff to ensure the Sheriff’s Office remains fully staffed and able to provide excellent service.
2. Improving communication and partnerships with cities, schools, businesses, and community organizations to strengthen public safety collaboration.
3. Modernizing operations and services by improving technology, processes, and budgeting practices to increase efficiency, accountability, and service to residents.
Transparency builds trust. I would provide regular public updates on department activities, crime trends, and major initiatives through community meetings, reports, and digital communications. I would strengthen communication with city leaders and community stakeholders, encourage citizen engagement, and ensure policies and performance measures are clearly communicated. My goal is to create an organization that is open, accountable, and responsive to the people it serves.
My leadership style is collaborative, accountable, and focused on results. I believe leaders must communicate clearly, support their employees, and build strong relationships both inside and outside the organization. Throughout my career, I have led diverse teams, managed complex operations, and worked with local, state, and federal partners to solve problems. I lead by example, make informed decisions, and focus on continuous improvement. These qualities have prepared me to serve as Sheriff.
The Sheriff’s Office plays an important role in prevention, enforcement, and education. We must work closely with local police departments, schools, community organizations, and mental health professionals to identify risks before violence occurs. Strong enforcement against violent offenders, proactive investigations, responsible firearm safety education, and community partnerships all contribute to safer neighborhoods. These effort are essential in reducing gun violence in our community.
The primary responsibility of the Sheriff’s Office is protecting public safety and enforcing state and local laws. The Sheriff’s Office should comply with all applicable laws and cooperate with federal agencies when required by law or when public safety concerns are involved. At the same time, deputies must maintain the trust of the communities they serve by treating all individuals with professionalism, fairness, and respect. Again, public safety must be our priority.

As a licensed peace officer, I served with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office for 11 years, where I worked in every statutory function of a sheriff's office, including the jail, court security, civil process, warrants, and water patrol. In 2017, I joined South Lake Minnetonka Police Department, where I currently serve as Patrol Sergeant. In addition to supervising patrol, I manage budgets, oversee training, direct the Highway 7 Safety Coalition, assist with POST audits and reimbursement, and review agency policies. Throughout my career, I have led through servant leadership, mentoring others and putting service before self. I am called to serve, not to be served. Carver County Deserves Moore!

-Traffic safety. Eliminating all traffic deaths in Carver County.
-School Safety. Develop partnerships with all schools in Carver County and implement programs that ensure the safety of our students, including threat assessment and mitigation, violence prevention, and response training.
I will develop open relationships with all community leaders. I will also invite open communication with all citizens by being out in the community and inviting open dialog.
True leadership is earned, not given. I have managerial experience, but I have earned my leadership role by maintaining relationships with the people I work with. I am a servant leadership at heart. I believe in serving, not being served. Servant leadership is about taking care of those employees that are entrusted to you. I believe that each employee should feel supported and cared about by their leaders. When employees feel truly supported, they are more apt to better serve their communities.
Threat assessment and mitigation programs are how the sheriff's office, and other law enforcement agencies, can best provide for the safety of their communities. Agencies that have dedicated threat assessment teams, can prevented numerous acts of violence within their communities.
Immigration enforcement is a federal duty and responsibility. Minnesota law dictates that jail facilities should notify the federal government when a non-citizen is convicted of a felony offense. State case law does not allow for jails to hold solely for civil ICE detainers. Ignoring that precedent could hold our taxpayers responsible for a large financial burden should we face lawsuits under this ruling.

What truly qualifies me is nearly three decades in a high-volume metro environment, navigating civil unrest, large scale events, leading SWAT operations, and complex investigations. This proven experience uniquely qualifies me to serve as Carver County Sheriff.
The Sheriff’s Office plays a key role in gun violence prevention through strong, smart enforcement and community partnerships.
I will:
Aggressively target illegal guns, drug traffickers, and repeat violent offenders.
Expand community-oriented policing and youth engagement programs to prevent crime before it starts.
Support responsible gun ownership while enforcing existing laws.
Strengthen school safety initiatives and crisis intervention training.
Real prevention comes from proactive policing.
Carver County residents’ safety comes first. Immigration enforcement is not the primary role of the Sheriff’s Office, that responsibility belongs to federal authorities. However, we will fully cooperate with our federal partners on public safety matters.
Deputies will enforce all criminal laws without regard to immigration status. We will notify ICE as required by Minnesota law for felony convictions involving non-citizens and prioritize removing criminal offenders from our streets.
