My top priorities would be public safety, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and long-term planning for Scott County’s future. First, I will continue supporting law enforcement, first responders, and mental health resources that keep our communities safe and healthy. Second, I will focus on accountability and efficient government by ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and county government remains transparent and responsive. Third, I will prioritize infrastructure and long-term planning so roads, parks, and county services continue to meet residents’ needs. My approach will be simple: focus on core county responsibilities, think long term, and make decisions that strengthen our communities for future generations.
Safe and accessible elections are not competing goals—they are both essential to public trust. We should make it easy for every eligible voter to cast a ballot while ensuring strong safeguards that guarantee election integrity. Elections are the backbone of America and every voter needs full confidence in the results.
One of the biggest challenges is ensuring residents can access mental health services before problems become crises. We also need stronger coordination between mental health providers, law enforcement, healthcare systems, and county services. During my time in the Legislature, I helped secure funding that made a new mental health treatment center in Savage possible. I will continue supporting practical investments that expand access to care and improve outcomes for families.
My approach would be to focus on delivering excellent core services while being disciplined stewards of taxpayer dollars. That means setting clear priorities, measuring outcomes, and looking for efficiencies before asking taxpayers to pay more. My experience in both government and the private sector has taught me the importance of long-term planning and responsible budgeting. County government should be transparent, accountable, and focused on providing value to residents every day.
Immigration enforcement is primarily a federal responsibility, not a county one. The county board’s role is to ensure local governments, law enforcement, and public services have the resources they need to serve residents safely and effectively while complying with state and federal law. My focus as a county commissioner would remain on core county responsibilities, supporting public safety, and ensuring taxpayer-funded services are delivered efficiently and fairly.
I believe good local government starts with being accessible. I will regularly attend community events, meet with residents where they are, and proactively engage with local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and public safety leaders. I also believe in being responsive and approachable outside of formal meetings. Some of the best ideas and feedback come from everyday conversations, and I want residents to know they will have a commissioner who listens, communicates, and follows through.

My top priority since being elected in 2007 has been fiscal responsibility. I am proud of my record in Savage on maintaining critical services with minimal tax levy increases. I’ll continue providing strong fiscal leadership by ensuring the appropriate level of resources for the County’s service demands.
My second priority is the 911 dispatch. Scott County oversees 911 dispatch which is the first critical step in emergencies. The call volume continues to escalate annually. I’ll work to find creative solutions in providing this crucial service.
My third priority is collaboration. We need to find collaborative ways where we can join forces with Scott County cities, townships, and our neighboring counties for better utilization of resources.
Nothing is more sacred in this country than the right to vote. I believe free and fair elections are the cornerstone to our democracy. The County’s role in securing fair elections is to ensure that election judges are fully trained and follow all state laws. We must also be ready to assist if problems arise. I support fully staffing the County’s polling sites throughout early voting and election day, so every eligible voter has a chance to cast their ballot.
We need to work with our federal and state partners in creating less mandates in mental health and social services, and allowing the county to determine the optimal services to provide. The unfunded mandates are creating a legacy of red-tape which is far removed from the people who need these services. The County employees and those who are doing this critical work, need to be able to make informed decisions based on individual circumstances and needs.
In 2003 SCALE was formed to bring local leaders together to find solutions for County-wide concerns. While SCALE still exists, there has been a degradation to the collaborative nature of the group. I promise to invest the time, energy and effort in rebuilding these relationships. This collaboration also needs to happen with our neighboring counties. Working together we can provide necessary services in a more cost-effective manner. We must continue to adapt and re-explore how we operate.
The county doesn’t enforce immigration laws. This power is dedicated to the federal government. The City of Savage doesn’t enforce immigrations laws; however, I spent countless hours talking with people about their immigration and enforcement concerns. As local elected leaders, I believe we need to know what is happening in our community and raise concerns to those who can make a difference. The County Board must have strong relationships with Federally elected leaders who can address them.
One of the best ways to engage with the residents is to be present and listen. I’m often stopped at the coffee shop or grocery store and asked about city issues. I showed up at Savage Recycling Day, to hear residents’ thoughts. I spend hours talking on the phone with folks who have concerns about something happening in town. I happily attend neighborhood meetings to discuss city policies and residents’ concerns. These personal conversations are at the heart of what local elected leadership is.
