Efficiency means keeping the board focused on practical matters, spending less time on symbolic gestures and partisan politics, more long-term commitments on resolutions, and faster turnaround times on ongoing projects. Infrastructure requires serious investment: roads, equipment maintenance, and economic development aren’t keeping pace with population growth. Finally, Isanti’s youth deserve real opportunity. Too many graduates leave because there’s nothing here for them. Expanding youth recreation, community spaces, trades training, and career pathways gives young people a reason to build their futures in Isanti.
Safe, secure elections are achieved when everyone eligible has voting access. A secure election, where only a select few can vote, is a direct threat to democracy. The ability to cast a ballot is our right, and requires safeguards like simple voter registration, clearly communicated procedures, accessible locations, and absentee voting options. Reasonable election protections, including current voter rolls, trained election judges, and mandatory post-election audits, protect the process for all.
With a wide variety of services available in Isanti the primary barriers in accessing mental health and social services are functional—high demand, understaffing, funding cuts. Since statewide crackdowns on Medicaid providers there is a greater strain on remaining public assistance programs. Stringent oversight measures to ensure integrity compliance combined with expanded resource partnerships can ease the burden of serving current demand and provide a solid foundation for future services.
Managing costs starts with strong oversight and controls to reduce waste, combined with efficient, service-specific budget allocation. Rather than relying solely on cuts, I’d push for performance-based budgeting that incorporates value metrics, opportunity costs, and objective frameworks, thus ensuring every dollar works toward real operational gains. Smart organization and clear priorities stretch resources further without sacrificing the services constituents depend on.
The United States’ Constitution clearly establishes immigration enforcement is a federal responsibility, not the role of the county board. The county commissioners’ responsibility is to ensure county resources are being fairly and correctly distributed, that all residents can easily access county services and that local government follows state and federal regulations. County government should stay centered on efficient services, building and maintaining trust in the community and public safety.
To understand, you must listen. I will meet constituents where they are by being present in the community, as well as being personally accessible by phone, email, social media, or regular drop-in options for conversations. I will maintain an active presence at local businesses and events, and offer my own townhalls to connect on an individual basis. I will be at county, township, and city meetings to ensure that county decisions and goals reflect real needs and practical solutions.
My top three priorities are housing accessibility, responsible property tax policy, and transparent government.
Isanti County's growth demands we expand housing options including ADUs and sensible zoning reform so working families, seniors, and young people can afford to stay in the communities they love.
On property taxes, residents deserve a board that scrutinizes every expenditure. Growth shouldn't automatically mean higher taxes.
Finally, open government matters. I'll push for structured transparency, including internship programs that bring fresh perspectives into county operations and give the next generation hands on experince.
Election integrity and voter access aren't in conflict they reinforce each other. With a background in IT and cybersecurity, I know secure systems require both strong safeguards and reliable access. I support modern auditing, clear chain-of-custody procedures, and regularly tested equipment. Every eligible voter should find it straightforward to cast a ballot. Accessible polling locations and consistent procedures achieve both goals.
Rural counties like Isanti face provider shortages, long wait times, and stigma that keeps residents from seeking help. Geographic barriers and limited transit compound the problem. I'd expand partnerships between county services, schools, and nonprofits. I will also put pressure on state government for the long overdue funding for mental health beds instead of our jail where they have no other place for care.
My background in systems administration taught me to maximize efficiency without sacrificing reliability. I'd apply that discipline to county government auditing service delivery, exploring shared services with neighboring counties, leveraging technology to reduce overhead, and setting clear performance benchmarks. Cost control starts with accountability; every department should justify its budget with measurable outcomes.
Immigration enforcement is a federal responsibility, and county resources including the Sheriff's Office should remain focused on public safety for all residents. The board's role is to ensure any cooperation with federal agencies is governed by clear, publicly available policy and reviewed transparently.
