County services that they oversee include a wide variety of social service and welfare programs, as well as certain public health programs. My top three priorities would be fiscal responsibility, keeping the community informed, and making Sibley County an attractive place to raise a young family. Sibley County is rural, and our largest tax base is farmers. We need to ensure our farmers are not overtaxed and underserved. As a county, we must provide top notch services, while being fiscally responsible. I also believe that the Commissioners should be more accessible to the public, and hope to see the county move towards live streaming board meetings. As our population ages, it is also important we keep young families, and we can offer an attractive rural setting to raise a family.
I believe that Sibley County has a safe, reliable voting system, and am fully confident in our elections team.
As a Special Education Teacher in Sibley County, I saw these challenges firsthand. I also had exposure to the trainings and support from 2B Continued. Limited access to therapy and other resources is the biggest challenge. The county provides school-link therapists to students who need mental health services the most, but there is often a wait list to be seen. I hope to see mental health awareness grow in our schools and communities, and will help promote programs that do so.
As I stated in my top priorities, I am committed to fiscal responsibility, while serving our community. Sibley County has done a great job of doing this for over 100 years, and I will work with my fellow Commissioners and Department Heads to make sure those services continue to be delivered.
I believe immigration enforcement is a federal issue.
I believe being present in our community, and being accessible to constituents is the best way I can serve. I also hope to see the county board become more accessible with modern technology to increase awareness of the work being done.
