We need to lower costs, root out fraud, and make state government accountable. As governor, I’ll lower costs that have gone up for essentials like health care, housing, child care, and utilities. I’ll launch a top-to-bottom audit of state government, ensure people who commit fraud go to jail, and replace decades-old technology with modern tools to stop fraud before it starts. I’ll keep Minnesota competitive by doubling the number of apprenticeships, and bringing student achievement up and screen time in the classroom down. I was ranked #1 in the Senate for bipartisan bills and #3 for passing bills into law. As governor, I’ll work across the aisle and stand up for what’s right and fix what’s wrong. Minnesotans deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods and in their homes. When I ran Minnesota’s largest prosecutor’s office, I went after violent crime and did my job without fear or favor. I’ll take the same approach as governor. I’ll support local police departments, recruit the best people into public safety jobs, invest in violence prevention, build real partnerships between law enforcement and the community, and support gun safety reforms that save lives.
Climate change presents serious challenges for Minnesota’s environment, communities, and economy. I’ll tackle this head-on by supporting conservation and adding more affordable, clean energy like wind and solar onto the grid, investing in battery storage, and making Minnesota a leader in next-generation energy sources like geothermal to lower utility bills. I will expand homegrown fuels like biofuels that open new markets for our farmers, and promote energy-efficiency upgrades to lower costs.
The Trump administration’s cuts to healthcare have been devastating, raising prices and tossing people off coverage. I’ll lower costs by reducing insurance premiums and cutting prescription drug prices. I took on Big Pharma in the Senate and won, and I can do it again. I’ll protect reproductive freedom – decisions that belong to women and their doctors, not politicians. My opponent would ban abortion with no exceptions and be a rubber-stamp for Trump. I’ll do what’s right for Minnesotans.
Minnesota does better when growth reaches all communities. As governor, I’ll strengthen our economy for all Minnesotans by expanding access to workforce training, doubling the number of apprenticeships, supporting the small businesses that are the backbone of our economy, and lowering costs. I’ll build wealth in every community through good-paying jobs and homeownership, tackle disparities in education and maternal health, and protect voting rights so every eligible Minnesotan can cast a ballot.
I’ll balance the budget, govern with fiscal responsibility and make government accountable. That starts with a top-to-bottom audit of state government. My plan is not to raise taxes. I’ll root out fraud by vetting contracts, requiring surprise inspections, and replacing decades-old technology with modern tools to stop fraud before it starts. I’ll make state dollars go further by holding agencies accountable, leveraging our state’s bond rating, and partnering with the private sector.
The best way to keep our state strong is to help businesses grow and create good jobs. As governor, I’ll cut red tape, reform permitting, and make government a better partner for businesses across Minnesota. I’ll create new partnerships so employers can recruit and train workers, double apprenticeships, and support new industries. The continued ICE operations that are terrorizing our neighborhoods, and putting our neighbors into concentration camps.
The lack of social services leads to bad outcomes for the poorest among us, which leads to poverty and crime. Redirecting funds from policing (which demonstrably doesn't solve the problem) to social services will help us all live together with dignity.
Also, as Governor I will ensure that the government supports the decentralized, neighborhood-based defense against ICE, and will prosecute ICE and their collaborators with extreme prejudice.
Full societal activation (Green Jobs program) to repair our lands, cover every roof with solar panels, and protect each of us during the ongoing climate disaster. We will eliminate factory farming, and support urban agriculture to ensure that we can continue to feed ourselves with the increasingly erratic climate.
I will also significantly bolster our emergency disaster response units (Green Jobs program), to ensure that Minnesotans can count on the government during times of crisis.
Medicare for All is my baseline. Strong public health programs means that we are each healthier, so we all need access to healthcare. We will strengthen our medical care with urban clinics, rural hospitals, and student debt forgiveness for medical professionals.
I will never compromise on a woman's right to choose, or anybody's right to choose who they are. Even if the federal government disagrees, Minnesotans will stand together to protect each of us.
I will continue to ensure that our schools offer free lunches, and that our parks department continues to offer their free/discounted childcare programs.
I will enact a debt jubilee (if we can unite on the streets to prevent ICE from taking our neighbors, we can unite on the streets to prevent debt collectors from taking our money), this economic boon will address racial and ethnic disparities because our current economy is what keeps segregation alive.
I will de-privatize programs that had historically been the purview of the government, to ensure that shady business practices do not enter into social services. Government funds will be used for societal gains, not a businessman's boat.
My Green Jobs program (including supporting the Rapid Response groups and local mutual aid) will provide good paying jobs for everybody, which will juice the economy by giving people the money to buy things.
This, along with the debt jubilee, will ensure people will have money to spend on the economy, rather than on debt services. Every Minnesotan business will do better when Minnesotans have money to spend.
