My top three priorities are affordability, equity, and safety. Ordinary families are being squeezed by the cost of living, trapped by poorly designed policies. When I talk to neighbors at their door, I hear about these issues, but I also hear the worry in their stories.
To give our kids the same chance we had, to build wealth and a family, we need to tackle the housing crisis by removing barriers to building housing that meets the needs of our neighbors. To keep families from feeling the crushing weight of medical debt, we need to move to a single payer healthcare model for all Minnesotans. We need to fully fund our schools and strengthen our gun restriction laws.
A vibrant economy is one where our workers and families thrive. Where we pay a livable wage and don’t have to struggle to get by. We can cut out the profit centers built into expensive middle men in our healthcare system, making it cheaper for businesses to provide the quality healthcare employees deserve. We can support more varied and flexible development by changing our zoning laws to better meet the needs of our neighborhoods, which would increase construction jobs.
As an Asian American, I live in a state where it is legal for a landlord to discriminate potential renters based on their source of income. This is de facto discrimination against minorities, who are more likely to use rental and income assistance. Minnesota has one of the highest disparities in home ownership, which is perpetuated by discrimination and preventing our minority families from taking that first step on the ladder towards building wealth.
Yes. As an Asian American Woman, who has experienced discrimination in various forms, protections in our state constitution is what is right and what is just. It is protection for everyone.
I am supportive of Prove it First legislation. I also am supportive of holding oversight hearings to ensure that our environmental laws are enforced.
We should be using data to guide effective policy and the Hamline University Violence Prevention Project is at the forefront of data collection and research on gun violence. There are many small policies we can enact, which collectively will reduce gun violence like safe firearm storage, making it easier for victims of domestic violence to keep guns out of the hands of their attackers, and delay periods for purchasing.
I am proud to be a Fairvote Minnesota RCV Champion, because moving towards ranked choice voting is one way to dilute the power of any one financial contributor. My campaign also uses the Political Contribution Refund (PCR) system, which caps the amount that can be spent on a race, while giving those least able to contribute an equal voice. I also would support legislation the requires transparency on the identity of the campaign donor.
