For decades, both parties ran the same playbook: the rich get richer while working families fall behind. I'm running to break that cycle. Top 3 priorities:
1. Universal healthcare. Every American deserves coverage that isn't tied to a job. Single-payer cuts the $228B we waste on administrative bloat. Independent studies show it would lower total healthcare spending.
2. Money back in your pocket. No federal income tax on the first $40K ($80K married), plus a $500/month UBI. They're simple and may eliminate the need for fraud-ridden programs like Feeding Our Future.
3. Universal pre-K at age 3. Free early education gives every kid a fair start and lets parents work.
Government does best when it does a few big things, but do them efficiently.
A vibrant economy starts with an independent Federal Reserve free to target 2% inflation using its customary tools, without political interference. That's the Fed's job. Congress has its own: complement that policy with a working-class agenda. Universal healthcare, money back in your pocket through tax cuts and a UBI, and universal pre-K all put money where it does the most good—in working families' hands. The Fed fights inflation; Congress builds the economy from the bottom up.
Climate change is straining our groundwater; the EPA flagged 8 counties in our district for unsafe nitrate. Thousands of rural families on private wells are drinking water that fails federal safety standards, and I'll fight to fund testing and treatment for every one. At the national level, we should greatly reduce our reliance on carbon-based energy. On the international level, we should rejoin the Paris Agreement and the UN climate framework so America leads again instead of standing alone.
This is exactly why I'm running. Healthcare is a right, not a job perk. I support single-payer universal coverage. These policies are designed to be so simple they can't be exploited the way Feeding Our Future was. They'll restore wealth to the middle class.
Secure elections start with getting big money out of politics; both parties take the corporate checks, and that has to end. I support banning dark money and foreign money in our elections. Every vote should be cast on a paper ballot we can verify, with post-election audits to confirm the count. And every eligible citizen should be able to vote easily; Minnesota already leads the nation in turnout, and we should protect that access, not chip away at it.
A representative works for the people, not the donors, which is why I'm walking 277 miles across southern Minnesota to listen to voters of every party. My job is to show up, tell the truth even when it's inconvenient, and put working families ahead of corporate interests. I'll draw on my education and work experience to study every issue in depth, so people know they have a thoughtful representative who understands the policy and votes their interests, the way a republic is meant to work.
Trust in the Supreme Court has fallen to record lows, and it's easy to see why. It's the only court in America without a binding, enforceable ethics code. That should change immediately. I also support 18-year term limits for justices, with a regular appointment schedule so no single president reshapes the Court by luck of timing. It's common sense that restores accountability and public faith.
