I am the best candidate for Mayor of Chisholm because I have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bemidji State University. I graduated from Chisholm High School in 1993. I also graduated from Hibbing Community College with an Associate in Arts Degree in Business Administration. I am currently on the Chisholm Parks, Trails, and Recreation Board. My education and some experience in Chisholm city government (I previously was on the Chisholm Charitable Gambling Commission) makes me the best candidate for Mayor of Chisholm. I believe that together, we will build an inclusive Chisholm over the next four years.
The top three priorities will be:
1. Economic development and housing. I will work to bring in new businesses to Chisholm and create jobs. I will also work to get housing developments done so we can expand the tax base.
2. Rebuild our infrastructure. There's no doubt that our streets, sewers, etc. needs to be redone. Although some progress has been made, more needs to be done.
3. Budget. I will fight for a budget that keeps levy increases to a minimum. We must make tough decisions.
First of all, the city of Chisholm has a code of conduct that all elected and appointed officials will be expected to abide by. The elected and appointed officials sign this as well as the city of Chisholm statement of values. I will strictly enforce the city of Chisholm code of conduct and statement of values. Any elected and appointed officials who violate the city of Chisholm code of conduct or statement of values will be held accountable.
We have public participation at Chisholm City Council meetings in which residents can address the Chisholm City Council on issues that affect them. This would continue under my leadership. In addition, I will have office hours at Chisholm City Hall where citizens can come into the office to discuss their concerns with me. I will also have an email address with the City of Chisholm where they can email their concerns and I will answer those promptly.
I believe that the Chisholm Police Department should be held accountable if they violate the laws. They are paid to enforce the laws. We will expect the Chisholm Police officers to treat people with respect and we will expect everyone else to treat the Chisholm Police officers with respect as well.
The Chisholm Police Department should have a National Night Out with the community so that they can engage with the community.
