Description: The South Dakota State Legislature is the legislative branch of the government of South Dakota. It is a bicameral legislative body, consisting of the Senate which has 35 members, and the House of Representatives, which has 70 members. The two houses are similar in most respects; the Senate alone holds the right to confirm gubernatorial appointments to certain offices. The Legislature meets at the South Dakota State Capitol in Pierre. It begins its annual session of the second Tuesday of January each year. The legislative session lasts 40 working days in odd-numbered years, and 35 days working days in even numbered years.Term: 4 consecutive 2 year termsSalary: $16,348/year + $178/day for legislators who reside more than 50 miles away from the capitolRequirements for Office: 21 years old; 2 years residency; qualified voter; may not have been convicted of bribery, perjury or other infamous crime; may not have illegally taken "public moneys".Petition Requirements: Depends on party and legislative district. Every South Dakotan deserves a safe, affordable place to call home—on or off reservations.

We will expand access to homeownership, down-payment assistance, affordable rentals, workforce housing, and housing rehabilitation while investing in the infrastructure needed to build more homes.

We will work government-to-government with tribal nations, respect tribal sovereignty, and ensure tribal communities have fair access to state housing and infrastructure resources.

And we will demand transparency: taxpayers should know where housing dollars go and whether they are actually producing homes and helping families.

More housing. More homeownership. More opportunity—for every South Dakotan.
Every South Dakota student deserves a quality education from pre-K through higher education.

We will invest in early learning, teacher recruitment and retention, safe and modern schools, technology, special-education services, and affordable pathways to college, trades, and careers.

For tribal communities, we will work government-to-government with tribal nations, respect sovereignty, and ensure equitable access to education resources. We will support Native-language and culturally relevant education, school infrastructure and transportation, dual-credit and career programs, scholarships, and stronger partnerships with tribal colleges.

Strong schools. Supported teachers. Prepared students. Opportunity for every child.
I believe the initiative and referendum process is one of the most important tools South Dakota citizens have to hold their government accountable. The people should always have a voice when they believe their elected officials are not listening.

I support protecting that right while improving transparency, clear ballot language, fiscal information, and accountability in the process. Voters deserve to understand what they are voting on, who is funding an effort, and what the potential impact will be.

Most importantly, I believe government should never make it unnecessarily difficult for citizens to exercise their constitutional right to be heard.

Our government works for the people—not the other way around.
Every eligible South Dakotan should have equal access to the ballot while knowing their vote is secure and counted accurately.

I will support strong election security, accurate voter rolls, transparent procedures, and meaningful audits while ensuring new laws do not create unnecessary barriers for rural voters, seniors, people with disabilities, military families, or tribal communities.

My campaign is about putting people first and making government work for every South Dakotan. That means protecting both the security of our elections and every citizen’s right to be heard.
As a mother, I understand how important it is for families to have safe, reliable, and affordable childcare. Parents should not have to choose between working, going to school, and providing the care their children need.

I will support stronger childcare assistance, better support for childcare providers, and expanded access in rural and reservation communities.

For tribal communities, I will work government-to-government with our tribal nations to support locally operated, culturally relevant childcare and early-learning programs.

When we support our children and the families raising them, we strengthen the future of our communities.
South Dakota’s biggest challenges are affordability, opportunity, and trust in government.

Families face rising costs for housing, childcare, healthcare, and daily necessities. Rural and tribal communities need better infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

We must support workers, small businesses, agriculture, and young people building their futures here.

Government must be transparent, responsible, and accountable to communities—not special interests.

South Dakota can do better by putting people first, strengthening communities, respecting tribal sovereignty, and expanding opportunity for every family.
