Objections to candidacy are heard before the State Ballot Law Commission, and can be filed by any registered voter in the district the candidate seeks election within, including challengers, members of a political party, or constituents. The objection process will conclude at the end of June, at which point, LWVMA will amend our VOTE411 listing with the most up-to-date information.The Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts serves a four-year term with no term limits. Their primary responsibility is to serve as acting Governor if or when the Governor is absent, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to perform their duties. The Lieutenant Governor is automatically a member of the Massachusetts Governor's Council and, when the Governor is absent, the President of the Council. Lieutenant Governor candidates run separately from the Governor in the Massachusetts primary. In the November general election, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor will run together on a joint ticket.
