None of this was on my radar last February, but I was asked to run so I did. I believe that folks who run for public office are either crazy, crooked, or really pissed off. I happen to be really pissed off.
There is the lack of investment in education and transport infrastructure that is seriously hindering local business development and outside investment in Oklahoma, but the state also has a serious public relations problem as well. There are vast stretches of this state where there is frankly not a lot going on economically that is legal and folks outside know it. There is no quick fix, but with some serious effort toward diversifying our economy and addressing quality of life issues, keeping and attracting the young and educated can be accomplished.
We need a radical overhaul of teacher career development and curriculum in this state, and farming our system out to private schools is not the answer. Public Education exists to make functioning citizens, and that We the People have a say in what that means.
Diversifying the economy and opening the state to outside banking would be central toward carrying the load in a national crisis.
