I have been serving on the Pavillion Town Council for 4 years now. Prior to moving to Fremont County I served on the Town Council in Rolling Hills. I am passionate about doing as much as possible to help our community. I try very hard to listen to all residents, and work hard to fulfill their needs.
At this time, I feel that the proposed sales tax isn't an appropriate source of funding for these services. I think that the county commissioners need to look at other ways to fund the ambulance service, especially if they are going to continue to have a contract with the current providers. The lack of transparency about their budget leads me to think that funds aren't being spent properly. The commercial air service and public transportation services should be able to secure funding that doesn't require taxing the residents more.
We need to figure out how to provide affordable housing for our residents. The cost of housing has become ridiculous, leaving many families unable to afford to buy, or paying so much for their mortgage that they can't afford to provide other necessities for their families.
I believe that a happy, thriving town begins with the structure within the town. By listening to residents about needs and desires, the local government can successfully create safe, happy places for residents to live, enjoy their free time, and work.
