I am a life long resident of Lander. I see a need for new ideas and direction for Lander. I Believe in public service and my record shows this. I was an employee of the City of Lander Police Department for 41yrs. I Have over 20+ years of supervisor experience. While being a member of the Police Department, I attended numerous department head meetings and council meetings, giving me a unique perspective into all of the other Lander departments. I Helped build and manage budgets and grants. Strong Leadership skill. Believes in the people's voices, open communication.
By bring people together, business owners, financial institutions, building contractors etc.. to talk about what the City can do to facilitate growth. This being from zoning issues to building permits and fees. Make the system business friendly. Remove obstacles, fast track permits, look at the fees charged. This can help in filling the open business in the area and hopefully bring in bigger companies. Also continue to grow Lander’s tourism industry. Help promote the area nationwide. Assist/promote our area outdoor events.
#1 Infrastructure: Immediately start Fixing our roads, curb and gutters. Continue water and sewer upgrades #2 Open Voice and Door policies so the Citizen can have a voice. Conduct open Council meetings with emphasis on citizen input. #3 Affordable and low incoming housing, with business growth.
I define it as a city that has a great quality of life with strong infrastructure, education, a good health care, along with economic development. Provides ample basic needs including affordable housing. Lander has a strong Park system with many green spaces for gathering and social events. Lander’s streets are wide, promoting not only vehicle traffic but also safe bike usage. Lander has a diverse community with many different social functions available to the people, ie. I attended Council as a citizen for months, then in fall of 2018 as a Council member, growing my knowledge of local government extensively. Growth continued as Council President, increasing even more with continued years as Council member. Serving as Mayor since March 2025 additionally increased my knowledge and skills of managing a city efficiently & effectively, and understanding gov't finances. Additionally, I have strong proficiency in leading people to perform well, and developing & improving processes. These are critical skills to lead Lander into a strong future.
City government’s role is to provide a “fertile field” where residents want to live & shop, and where businesses want to be. I’ll continue providing statutorily required services like public safety, and continue offering as many quality-of-life services as possible, as efficiently as possible. I’ve built strong relationships with many local and county entities, and will continue to partner with other governments in Fremont County as well as business-support focused entities. Lander and Fremont County is small enough to work together, and too small not to!
I’m proud that I’ve contributed to these efforts and will continue to:
- Seek external funding for infrastructure projects (road, water/sewer) and quality of life projects to minimize financial impact on residents while making Lander a better place to call home
- Increase transparency across all city functions, and continue meeting with and addressing residents’ concerns
- Work within Lander government and with Lander, county, state and federal partners for our economic vibrancy, including increasing reasonable housing for our workforce and neighbors on limited budgets.
Public safety is my #1 priority, and I’m thrilled that stats show that Lander is safer than ever Crimes of all types are down substantially, some as much as 30%. Citizen engagement and volunteerism is a clear indicator of vibrancy, and Lander has a terrific level of both, from the LVFD volunteers to the many non-profit board members whose missions improve lives of residents in sports, arts, and services. Lander is blessed with highly active service clubs. It’s also important to have a community that discusses its beliefs and differences in a healthy, respectful way.
