I think it's time for me to give back to my community at the next level. I have a good relationship with the City of Lander and strong relationships within the community. A town should run with a business mindset and understand the needs and wants of it's citizens. I believe I have a great understanding of those concepts and will always keep the best interest of the community in mind.
Yes. I know the feeling of waiting 45 minutes for EMS when a loved one needs their services and I don't want anyone in my community to have to experience that especially if it can be avoided. This tax should come out of the general fund, but if it won't, I'll pay it. Without funding, the service will still be here, but cut back. Local commercial air service and public ground transportation aren't used by everyone in the community, but do help some.
Zoning and permitting cause contractors and investors to do their business outside of Lander. New houses aren’t always the answer due to high labor and materials cost. I think other forms of housing need to be considered. Less government and more free market solutions should be the path we take.
Sounds like Lander - a diverse place with opportunity to invest and grow into the future. Many citizens have lived here for a long time by working hard and holding their values high. There are enough activities here to attract folks from around the world, hoping to experience what we have to offer. Besides it's safety and seclusion, Lander is a very positive minded town filed with great people who care for it. People feel comfortable here and fall in love with this place. Born and raised in Lander, while working professionally for the last 19 years in the arts, it has been vital to learn work within high-stress conflict in order to cultivate deeper understanding for all points of view— ultimately still being able to deliver a "product" that serves. Additionally, work with Anam Cara Caregiving has served in ongoing development of empathy, conflict resolution, and practice of listening to learn vs to listening to respond. My choice to run is largely based in an anti-data center stance and the desire to be proactive with those concerns.
Yes. I support a sales tax that funds all of the above. As much as we generally pride ourselves in keeping taxes low, as a rural community I do not believe that we can afford to forgo access to any of these services. They are a part of building a sustainable community infrastructure.
Healthfully readdress conversations and action steps with community members, stakeholders, developers and local real-estate agents in regard to short-term rentals and zoning to allow for low income housing.
Not just specifically as a city council but a culture shift needs to take place in around marketing/pushing real estate externally vs addressing community needs internally with integrity.
A vibrant livable city/town prioritizes community as action vs community as a performance. It has access to potable water for all, affordable housing, local/small businesses/organizations that thrive in working together to fulfill access to basic community needs. It cultivates quality of life for our elders while building a future for our children to be proud of—a future with a strong local economy, accessible healthcare, safe streets, and sustainable investments into its infrastructure.

Some ways to maximize the supply of housing for the Lander community include:
Affordable residential development above downtown shops and businesses.
Affordable small-scale, well-designed multi-family housing in more areas of the city.
Infill development; using land within existing developed areas for further residential development where appropriate.
Collaboration with landlords and other stakeholders to create processes and agreements to best utilize the current supply of housing.
A vibrant and livable city/town advocates for the preservation and promotion of historic structures to strengthen tourism around the story of the city’s history; investigates and encourages expansion in a way that appeals to younger populations and retirees (e.g. clothing stores, social activities, increasing the availability of quality jobs that support a living wage); and maintains and extends the walkable development pattern including increasing accessibility through adequate continuity of sidewalks, curb cuts, ADA ramps, and the incorporation of pathways.
