As a 29 year public safety professional, I have worked as a 911 dispatcher, firefighter, police officer, and teacher. I have taught thousands of people nationwide on various topics. I retired early to start a small business, and have owned a real estate company for ten years with over 40 agents and $160 million in sales. I hold a Master's Degree in Management from Cardinal Stricth University. I am also currently a County Board Supervisor for Waukesha County District #3.
Crime continues to move west into Waukesha County. The safety of our residents, families, business and those that visit Waukesha County are the primary function of my administration. Currently the Sheriff's Office does not work collaboratively with other departments and under my administration that will change. We will all work together to reduce crime, keep taxes low, be transparent about our operations, and increase morale. Morale in the department is at an all-time low and we'll change that.
Waukesha County has innovotive programs in place now, be we need to strengthen the collaboration with the courts, Heath & Human Services, and all county agencies and departments. Drug & OWI courts, more education programming throughout the county, are just a few ways we can strengthen prevention efforts. As a former DARE and School Resource Officer, our efforts were focused on education & prevention and not just making arrests. We can do better for those in need of services in our county.
Work closely with the Heroin Task Force, the Jail, the County Board, the County Executive, the Criminal Justice Collaboration Council, and Health & Human Services to ensure we provide services to those when needed. Many great programs already exist, and we can strengthen those programs. The Sheriff's Dept. does not currently apply for Federal grants for programs like these and we will immediately do so. Screening inmates for their release needs is a major priority for to to reduce recidivism.
The program is an effective program and it will continue. The program allows for the safe and orderly transfer of detainees, which is no different than if any other federal, state, or local department places a detainer on a jail inmate. The Sheriff's Department will continue to work with all law enforcement agencies, and we will continue to ensure that other agencies are safely able to perform their duties without undue risk to the community.
