I am running for the Wyoming State Senate District 29 because I believe the people deserve a representative who listens, communicates openly, and puts the needs of communities ahead of politics. Too many Wyoming citizens feel their voices are not being heard. I want to restore trust by being accessible, transparent, and accountable for every vote I cast. As a Realtor, Property Manager, small business owner, and former Casper City Council Vice Mayor, I have firsthand experience solving real-world problems, balancing budgets, working with diverse groups of people, and making difficult decisions that affect our community.
I do not support the 50% residential property tax ballot initiative in its current form. Wyoming homeowners deserve meaningful property tax relief, but it must be done responsibly. A 50% reduction without a sustainable funding plan could significantly impact counties, cities, fire departments, law enforcement, roads, and other essential local services. If the initiative passes, I believe the legislature should work with local governments to develop a fiscally responsible and transparent backfill plan to avoid drastic cuts to public safety and critical infrastructure. Any solution should be sustainable and should not rely on creating a state income tax or simply shifting the tax burden elsewhere.
I oppose the broad sale or exchange of our public lands. Wyoming's public lands are vital to our way of life, supporting recreation, hunting, fishing, grazing, energy development, tourism, and local economies. They belong to all Americans and are an important part of Wyoming's heritage. That said, I do support carefully considered limited land exchanges when they provide a clear public benefit-such as improving public access, resolving boundary issues, protecting private property rights, or enhancing land management. Any exchange should be transparent, involve local input, and ensure the public receives equal or greater value in return.
Wyoming has one of the strongest public education funding systems in the nation, and I support meeting our constitutional obligation to provide every child with a quality education. However, I believe conversation should focus not only on how much we spend, but on how effectively those dollars are being used. I support maintaining strong funding for core academics, school safety, career and technical education, and the attraction and retention of quality teachers. At the same time, we must ensure taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently, with greater transparency, accountability, and a focus on student outcomes. Our goal should be a system that prepares students for college, the workforce, the military, or skilled trades.
I believe public funds should be used responsibly to support essential social services that help individuals become self-sufficient while protecting our most vulnerable citizens, including children, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. Programs that provide temporary assistance, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and support for those facing unexpected hardships can strengthen families and communicate when they are effective and accountable. At the same time, I believe every tax dollar should be carefully managed. Social service programs should include strong oversight, clear performance measures, and safeguards against waste, fraud, and abuse.
