The Wyoming Senate is the upper chamber of the state legislature. Similar to the U.S. Senate, they work with Representatives to create laws, set the state budget, and determine state tax rates. Senators also confirm appointments made by the Governor.State Senators are elected to a four-year term with no term limits.

Do you support the ballot initiative for a 50% reduction in property taxes, and why? If passed, should the state backfill the loss of local revenue? Please explain.

I have the experience of being in the senate from 2019 - 2022. I have served on many boards. Some of those are the Powell Valley Healthcare Board, the Northwest College Board, the State Board of Education, and the Powell Schools Federal Credit Union. Along with the boards I have been asked to be on a number of state committees in education. I feel I have the background knowledge and experiences to best represent the constituents of Senate District 19.
I do not support the 50% reduction in property taxes. This will have a drastic impact on our counties and municipalities but more important on our special districts such as the Hospital and the College. Along with that we will lose funding for programs like the Senior Citizen Centers and the public Libraries. We need to look at possible solutions for those that are financially challenged to ease the burden on them but at this time I don't have any good answers for solutions but together we can work for the best solution.
I do not support the sale of our public lands. We enjoy time in our public lands and even though there are suggestions of what kinds of lands could be sold. That still doesn't help the picture. Once some of the lands are sold the land we could enjoy can be locked off and we will be unable to get past that land to get to where we can enjoy the public land. No sale is a good sale.
No the current funding is not appropriate. The way the money has been divided it no longer is local control and I 100% will protect our local control. Every school district has a different climate and culture and in order to best meet those needs for the local area local control is a must.
We need to face the fact that mental issues are bigger than many if not all of us recognize. We can no longer say suck it up and get over it. We need to look at the problems and find the best solutions for helping those that need help. I don't believe in handouts but I do believe in providing a hand of help when needed.
