What areas of public policy are you passionate about and why?
What is your top priority for legislative action in 2027? Briefly discuss how you would address this priority.
I am passionate about education, voter's rights, & the economy.
On the economy, I believe that everyone who works full time should get paid a living wage, whether that is at a fast food drive through or stocking shelves. If we want to benefit from the services of major corporations & small businesses, we need to pay all employees a living wage.
The improvement of education for ALL kids, students, & returning adults should encourage them to contribute their best to their communities - whether that involves going to college, a technical school, or training program. In times where an individual needs to change careers or grow in their own field, that change should be as painless as possible.
Everyone who is a citizen should be automatically registered to vote, and should be allowed to vote without having to go through unnecessary hoops or pay poll-taxes to have that right to vote. We should be encouraging more people to get involved instead of trying to find ways to exclude them.
My biggest priority is to prevent the Republican super-majority from continuing to exist.
The Republicans have used this unfair advantage to overturn the will of the voters simply because they did not agree with the passing of some ballot measures & implemented their own schemes to assure that they are far more likely to win in the future.
If the Democrats somehow take back the majority, I will work to re-certify the protections that Missouri voters approved in 2024's Proposition A - for wage growth & leave benefits. I would also work to approve measures that would make gerrymandering far more difficult to implement through the use of a nonpartisan redistricting commission & setting rules that districts couldn't use political affiliation or physical demographics to determine boundary lines. Every one's vote counts equally & it's time we start working towards that.
