What areas of public policy are you passionate about and why?
What is your top priority for legislative action in 2027? Briefly discuss how you would address this priority.
Affordable living, and tax reform. Everyone deserves an opportunity at economic security, affordable housing, stable and
well-paying jobs, and the right to join a union. These should be within reach for working Missourians to receive an education, raise families, and be able to stay in their homes when they retire. The state needs to do more to retain Missourians and make living affordable.
Fully-funded schools. Public education needs to be treated as the asset it is, not a business to maximize profits. All Missouri children deserve a high quality education.
Affordable healthcare. Healthcare is commonly the biggest burden for people. The gov. needs to do more to support the right to healthcare. Rural hospitals need to stay open and operating, and premiums need to be controlled. The state needs to prioritize the working people keeping this state running, not privatizing hospitals.
Protecting the will of the voters. Lawmakers should deliver on the voters' decision, not stall democracy
Fully-funded public schools. The biggest obstacle is the state's lack of funding. If Missouri paid its fair share of public education, citizens wouldn't have to be burdened with high property taxes. Our schools shouldn't hinge on the area's property tax, worsening inequity and the affordability crisis.
I plan to sponsor a bill to fix the school funding formula. Currently, the formula is a decade out of date, and riddled with detours that pay the charter and private school industry. Public dollars need to stay in public schools. This, coupled with more state money allocated to public schools, would lower property taxes.
