Integrity, accountability, empathy, and a strong work ethic are essential qualities for any elected official. People deserve leaders who listen to their communities, communicate honestly, and follow through on the commitments they make.
I also believe elected officials should be solutions-oriented and willing to work with people from different perspectives to move communities forward. Leadership is not about political theater, it's about delivering meaningful results that improve people’s daily lives.
As a legislator, I approach this work by staying accessible to constituents, engaging directly with community members and stakeholders, and focusing on policies that create opportunity, improve affordability, strengthen behavioral health systems, and support working families.
Yes. Effective policymaking requires collaboration and, at times, compromise. In a diverse state like Colorado, no single person or party has all the answers, and lasting policy solutions are often stronger when multiple perspectives are considered.
That does not mean compromising core values or abandoning the needs of the community. It means being willing to engage in thoughtful conversations, identify common ground where possible, and focus on practical outcomes that help people.
Throughout my time in the legislature, I have worked with community organizations, healthcare professionals, advocates, businesses, local governments, and colleagues from different backgrounds to improve legislation and move important policies forward. I believe voters want leaders who can work through challenges responsibly and deliver results, not simply contribute to division.
I am passionate about policies that lower costs, improve quality of life, and expand opportunity for working families and vulnerable communities.
My top priorities include affordability, healthcare access, including mental health and substance use treatment, housing stability, workforce development, education, public transportation, reentry support for individuals returning from incarceration, and supporting older adults and caregivers.
My professional background in public health, reentry services, and community systems has shaped my legislative work and commitment to improving access to care, strengthening communities, and helping people successfully transition back into the community after incarceration.
I also believe Colorado should remain a place where people can access good-paying jobs, build stable lives, and afford to stay in the communities they call home.
Colorado has some of the strongest and most secure election systems in the country. Our state has built a nationally respected process that emphasizes accessibility, transparency, bipartisan oversight, and accountability.
At the same time, I believe it is important to continue strengthening public trust by ensuring voters have accurate information, protecting election workers, and maintaining safeguards that support fair and secure elections.
Our democracy depends on public confidence in the electoral process, and elected officials have a responsibility to communicate honestly about elections, respect the rule of law, and uphold the outcomes certified through our legal and constitutional systems.

Integrity, accountability, and a commitment to serving the public interest are the most important qualities of an elected official. Leaders should listen to diverse perspectives, communicate transparently, and make thoughtful decisions grounded in facts and the needs of the community. Effective public service also requires empathy, collaboration, and the courage to make difficult decisions while remaining focused on long-term solutions rather than partisan politics.
Yes, I believe compromise is an important part of effective policymaking. Communities are made up of people with different experiences and perspectives, and lasting solutions often require collaboration, listening, and a willingness to find common ground.
At the same time, compromise should not come at the expense of core values such as fairness, transparency, strong public education, and protecting working families. Effective leadership means working respectfully with others while remaining grounded in the values and priorities of the community.
I am passionate about public education, economic opportunity, and policies that strengthen working families and communities. My experience as an educator and school board member has shown me how closely issues like housing affordability, healthcare access, workforce development, and student success are connected. I am especially committed to strengthening public schools, supporting teachers and ensuring every child has access to a high-quality education regardless of their background or zip code. I also care deeply about expanding opportunities for immigrant and underserved communities and ensuring families have access to the resources and support they need to thrive. I believe economic stability is essential to strong communities. Families should be able to afford housing, healthcare, childcare, and other basic necessities while still having opportunities to build long-term security and success.
I believe public confidence in elections is essential to a healthy democracy. Elections should be secure, transparent, accessible, and administered fairly so voters can trust the process and feel confident their voices are heard. While every system can be improved, I believe election officials and volunteers across the country work hard to maintain the integrity of our elections. We should continue strengthening voter access, transparency, and public education about how elections are conducted. Protecting both election security and public trust must remain a priority, regardless of political affiliation.
