1) To assess the financial sustainability and structure of the CU system. 2) To get a handle on the quality of students, instruction, and research within the university. 3) To encourage the President and management of the CU system to start an initiative to maintain academic integrity and excellence.
Understanding why and how these gaps exist is the first step. I don't believe the university has a responsibility to "fix" the decisions of people to attend or not to attend the CU system.
Cutting unnecessary and unhelpful overhead will allow the university to slow the increase of its tuition costs. I would encourage the administration to prioritize maintaining or even reducing tuition over time through making budget cuts and exercising fiscal restraint.
I do not have a position on this issue.
