For 16 years, Michael Bennet has delivered for working families as Colorado’s U.S. Senator. He led the fight against Trump’s lawless administration, protected 700,000 acres of Colorado public lands, capped prescription drug prices, and passed the expanded Child Tax Credit, which cut child poverty in half. A former Superintendent of the Denver Public Schools, Michael delivered record student achievement. He is running for Governor to stand up to Donald Trump’s attacks and build an economy that works for working people.
This is an incredibly important moment in Colorado's history. Donald Trump is the worst President our country has ever had, threatening our economy, safety, and very democracy. We must stand up to him and stand up for the Colorado we want and our kids deserve.
I followed my wife, Susan, to Colorado, and we chased the American Dream. We bought a starter home, earned a living, and raised our three daughters here. But now, the economy is only working for the very top, and that same American dream is out of reach for too many Coloradans. No matter how hard they work, it’s harder to afford the basics of a middle class life, including housing, healthcare, and child care.
Winning the fight against Donald Trump depends on our ability to rebuild the American Dream. Colorado can lead the way. We have an opportunity to tackle our toughest problems by making housing more affordable, lowering health care costs, and ensuring every kid has access to a high-quality public education.
I am the only candidate in this race who has led large organizations through difficult times, balanced budgets, and created jobs. I am running for Governor because I believe my unique set of experiences—from turning around distressed companies in the private sector, to helping fix Denver’s budget crisis, and delivering record achievement for students at Denver Public Schools–are the right skills to deliver a better future. Together, we can take on Donald Trump and deliver a stronger Colorado for everyone.
I’m running for Governor to stand up to Donald Trump’s attacks on Colorado, make our state more affordable, and create real opportunity for working families across the state. We don’t have time for incremental change. As Governor, I will deliver on the bold solutions that will finally make a difference for Colorado families. I will build a Colorado where no person has to spend more than 30% of their paycheck on housing by bringing starter homes back to Colorado, holding private equity accountable, and cutting red-tape so it is faster and easier to build. Together, we will start a real public option for health care in Colorado that gives people access to high-quality health insurance and invests in patients and providers instead of private insurance companies and private equity. As Governor, I will cap pollution through an economy-wide cap-and-Invest program in Colorado, so corporations have to cut pollution or pay for the state to invest in local communities and do it another way. And I will prioritize transforming our education system so every graduate has the skills and opportunity to enter the middle class.

On March 1, 1954, I was born in Paola, Kansas, about 17 hours after the Castle Bravo nuclear disaster blast lit up the South Pacific. My first five years on our family farm were full of learning and adventure. Then, my family moved to Denver. After my big “awakening” at age ten, I vowed to find and promote the best solutions to problems at every scale. I was president of the student council in elementary school. My path to become an architect took a detour for a higher purpose. During the last 24 years, my pioneering ballot initiatives created headlines worldwide, even setting local news media records. My book, RAISE the ZONE, explains why politicians seem inherently incapable of preventing or solving major problems that plague the People. I cracked the code! It's also part memoir and mostly a blueprint of how to solve problems better at any scale, more affordably and effectively.
I’ve run for a few political offices to promote solutions that I knew were better than what other candidates had. I hoped that the winning candidates would adopt better solutions. Instead, they kept "looking" for solutions while exploiting problems, instead of using proven and affordable ways to solve problems.
I’ve met amazing people and learned of their extraordinary solutions that can create a “rising tide that lifts all boats”. You can read more about them in my SOLUTIONS BLUEPRINT. Almost 53% of Colorado voters are unaffiliated. They want better solutions than what they see from divisive, two-party politics. Colorado can be the first state government to employ truly cost-effective solutions.
People talk about the “Butterfly Effect”. They say a butterfly in Brazil can flap its wings in a coherent spiral that grows to create a tornado in Texas. I would engage “butterfly” activists and business leaders in Colorado to apply technologies of coherence and other solutions to create an upward spiral in the quality of life for everyone on Earth. That’s why I want to serve now as governor. It will provide me greater leverage to help the People more than what would happen otherwise.
1. Coherence: On Day One I’ll create the new position of Chief Coherence Officer. Bringing coherence into state government is like making it rain, versus creating a complex matrix of regulations and expensive drought assistance programs. It’s a vital strategy for optimal performance in any system, and innovation in any sector. That applies to social, governmental, technological and biological systems, etc. Coherence technologies benefit all other technologies and sectors.
2. Economic Development, Affordability and Prosperity: The Chief Coherence Officer will create the Partnership for Applied Coherence Technologies (P.A.C.T.) with relevant stakeholders. The P.A.C.T.’s first priority will be to implement society-wide applications of coherence to reduce chaos, incoherence, and stress in the population. That is achieved affordably by reducing society-wide causes of stress, such as air and water pollution, and electromagnetic pollution.
To increase tax revenue, jobs, and prosperity, I will launch initiatives that keep more money circulating in Colorado and bring in billions of dollars from exporting Colorado-based products. Some of these are predicted to have trillions of dollars in economic impact over the next 25 years.
3. Budget prioritization: To minimize waste, I will instruct legislators to give priority to budget items that actually solve problems and save money with validated approaches. This will end the “Rube Goldberg Machine” of inefficient government budgeting.

Roy Romer and former Denver Mayor Federico Peña—both of whom have endorsed me in this race—Colorado brought people together to move our state forward and invest in our kids' future.

My top priorities—in my first year and beyond—will be fighting back against the Trump administration and ensuring the next generation can afford to live in Colorado and has the opportunity to thrive here.
Right now, the federal government is attacking the rule of the law, slashing funding for critical programs and rolling back civil rights. As attorney general, I’ve sued the Trump administration 65 times—and we’re winning again and again. As governor, I’ll fight to protect Colorado against this lawless, bullying administration.
Colorado also faces skyrocketing housing costs that are pushing teachers further away from the communities where they work, our health care system is broken, and our economy is leaving too many behind—especially the next generation. As governor, I'll build more housing Coloradans can afford, launch “Primary Care for All” to fix our broken health care system, and make it easier to start a business here. I’ve done this work as attorney general—taking on corporate landlords, fighting mega-mergers that threaten to jack up prices, and holding Big Pharma accountable.
I’ll measure success by how many young people chose to stay in Colorado, buy a home, and can afford a life here—and whether teachers can afford to live in the communities where they work.
