Experience and Qualifications I’m a lifelong advocate, a former Binghamton City Council Member, and a statewide economic development policy expert. I’ve lived in Binghamton for 20 years. My decision to run is the culmination of a lot of work - through my own lived-experience, my policy expertise and my community involvement - that’s helped me understand what people in the community are struggling with and what they are crying out for.

1. An affordable New York & Taxing the Rich - I support cost reducing measures such as universal healthcare, universal child care, affordable housing construction, and expanding homeownership subsidies. I will advocate breaking up NYSEG's utility monopoly, a moratorium on AI data centers, and protections for renters. New York can make these critical investments by Taxing the Rich

2. Clean Water - Parts of AD 123 for decades have suffered from brown, contaminated water from industrial waste and river pollution. This is unacceptable. The threats to our water from AI data centers to PFAs are increasing. I have already been working building coalitions with local leaders to come up with solutions for our water crisis.

3. Dignity for immigrants - I will continue to oppose the county Sheriff's ICE collaboration and support the New York for All legislation making government cooperation with civil immigration enforcement illegal. Local governments should work for local residents, not Trump.
I support investment in green energy production to add the power New York needs: public transportation to reduce reliance on cars and gasoline; and energy efficiency subsidies for homeowners including installation of solar panels and home-based energy storage. I will also oppose AI data centers and new nuclear power plants.
In my district almost half of all Black families live in poverty. Taxing the rich to invest in working families will help Black families find and stay in their homes, expand access to childcare and quality healthcare. Anti-poverty programs are not enough to ensure racial justice. I will advocate for investments in youth job programs modeled after the extremely successful YouthWorks Summer Jobs program and other paid training/job readiness programs. I will also actively seek out the opinions and perspectives of leaders in the Black community in Broome County.
Gutting of the Voting Rights Act by Republicans and the ultra-conservative Supreme Court is a direct attack on voters of color. I have strong objections to partisan gerrymandering and the undermining of the voting power of Black and other non-white communities. I will not allow New York to embolden this underhanded Republican tactic of voter suppression. Unfortunately, the unleashing of this destructive force in American politics requires New York leaders to get behind redistricting to send more progressives to stand up against Trump's takeover of the US Congress.

Housing, Childcare, Infrastructure
We must invest in, and prioritize, flood mitigation infrastructure and infrastructure investments in general. Climate change is causing more erratic and extreme weather which is, in turn, increasing the risk of flooding. In order to protect life and property we must prioritize investments in technologies that communities like Broome County can use to prevent a repeat of the 2006 and 2011 floods. We must also continue to invest in green and renewable energy projects so we can decrease our reliance on fossil fuels, reach our CLCPA energy goals, and decrease New York State’s contributions to climate change.
Social and racial justice must be more than slogans. It means making sure every New Yorker, regardless of race, zip code, income, gender identity, or background, has equal access to opportunity, housing, healthcare, education, and a fair justice system. As an Assemblymember, I will fight to raise the minimum wage and index it to inflation, to create permanently affordable housing, to adopt universal healthcare and expand mental health services, to revise the foundation aid formula so that it provides more aid to under-resourced schools, and to reform the parole system by passing reforms like the Elder Parole Act and the Fair and Timely Parole Act.
We must fight back against MAGA efforts to stack the deck in the House of Representatives by redrawing congressional districts. This will be the only way to ensure some form of political parity and that the House of Representatives is responsive to the needs of states like New York.
