Experience and Qualifications I've been a proud State Assemblymember for District 50 since the 2020 election, when I scored a historic upset against a 50-year incumbent. Since my election, I've proudly delivered affordable housing and transit upgrades, finally won the McGuinness redesign I've been fighting for for years. I've tackled corruption and pollution, passed legislation to end new gas-reliant buildings, fought for Social Housing across the city, and too much more to list.
Community Involvement Prior to my election, I was a community activist for decades, working with groups like Make McGuinness Safe, Sane Energy, Transportation Alternatives, No NBK Pipeline, and more. I built so many great relationships and accomplished so much before I even considered elected office, and I retain my close relationship with them now, seeing these great activists as co-governors towards our goals of making Greenpoint a climate-forward, accessible haven for the working class.

1. Social Housing, aka House the Future 2. Commercial Rent Stabilization 3. Strong climate legislation, especially the SUNNY Act & fully implementing the All-Electric Buildings Act
We have to lead on climate legislation in New York, by implementing the CLCPA all the way, ending permanently all attempts at fracked gas and new pipelines, and addressing the specific ways our city life is contributing to the climate crisis. My Social Housing bill addresses many aspects of the housing crisis while also building its foundation on 100% carbon-neutral footing. The SUNNY Act, allowing tenants to install personal balcony solar panels to generate their own energy, would both ease the cost burden of energy bills and dramatically change our relationship to traditional forms of energy, expanding our use of solar power exponentially. This past cycle, I helped pass a repeal of the 100-Foot Rule, scaling back our nonsensical reliance on fossil fuels while ending the forced payment of new gas hookups by ratepayers. One of my proudest legislative accomplishments was the passage of the All-Electric Buildings Act, which will hopefully truly transform how we build in the state.
A major aspect of my advocacy against pipeline construction, such as the North Brooklyn Pipeline, is because of their intentional and horribly destructive construction in Black and Brown communities, which we've seen pollute and destroy specifically low-income, non-white areas of the country for decades. My Social Housing plan is specifically modeled to provide an alternative for those predominantly poor and non-white communities who can't afford rent anywhere in the city, giving them democratic control over their environmentally clean and affordable environments. I have always pursued and passed legislation around equity of opportunity and closing loopholes and harmful language in government programs, ensuring the widest and most socially responsive uses of our resources to pay back the communities our state has historically held down. I have focused a lot of legislation on increasing medical care & abortion access in communities of color and increasing rehabilitation access as well.
While I'm opposed to partisan gerrymandering in general, and we should immediately enact a nationwide ban, we have ended up in a situation where the Republican Party has intentionally rigged several states' elections and voters and politicians alike were left without any option but to start from a new angle. I support redrawing New York's lines if necessary to offset the completely immoral and anti-democratic redrawing in other states, and we must end this practice as soon as possible and restore fair and accurate maps in every state. We should also consider other nationwide reforms such as expanding Congress and the Supreme Court and reforming the Senate, to say the least.
