My top priorities are public safety, expanding affordable housing stock, including in local public school infrastructure, and alleviating the affordability crisis in our communities. I will fight to allocate State Senate funds, introducing relevant legislation and including discretionary allocations, directly to these projects. The tax dollars contributed by the hardworking families must be deployed rapidly into communities rather than getting trapped in bureaucratic delays.
New York State’s most beneficial climate policies focus on meeting the CLCPA mandate of 85% emission reductions by 2050, prioritizing a 40% benefit for disadvantaged communities. Key actions include accelerating renewable energy, electrifying buildings/transportation, expanding natural infrastructure (wetlands, forests), and implementing the NY Climate Change Superfund Act to fund damages.
Promoting social and racial justice involves implementing systemic reforms across housing, criminal justice, and economic sectors. Key policies include strengthening voting rights, increasing investment in underserved communities, expanding access to affordable housing, and implementing comprehensive police accountability measures to reduce systemic disparities.
Following the Supreme Court's April 2026 ruling in Louisiana v. Callais, which weakened the Voting Rights Act (VRA) regarding race-conscious redistricting, New York state must fortify state-level protections. Proposed actions must inculcate a focus on maximizing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of New York and updating state constitutional, anti-gerrymandering laws.
