Experience and Qualifications Before serving in Congress, I was a public interest lawyer and a New York State Assemblymember. I am currently serving my seventh term in Congress and have a demonstrated record of delivering for my district on the issues that directly affect working families. I’m proud to provide responsive and effective constituent services in multiple languages for my community.
Community Involvement My favorite part of being a Congresswoman is the close work we get to do with the community. Our district office is a constant resource for constituents on matters relating to veterans benefits, small business support, immigration assistance, and other services. I am also proud to attend and host regular community celebrations that feature the broad diversity of our district – including celebrations of holidays from Lunar New Year, to Eid, Passover, Easter, and more.

Affordability: Costs are skyrocketing and Queens families are feeling the pain. I’ve worked hard to bring down costs, making menstrual products more affordable for women and girls, delivering paid leave and affordable child care for working parents, raising wages for workers, capping prescription drug costs for seniors, and expanding SNAP benefits for low-income families who rely on them.

Immigration: I’m fighting to hold ICE accountable for its violence and abuse of power. I introduced legislation to make ICE agents display their badge and hold them to the same standards and oversight as other law enforcement. I’ve worked to reunite families separated by ICE, end family and child detention, and stop raids at our schools, hospitals, and places of worship.

Healthcare: Healthcare is a human right. I am a proud original co-sponsor of the Medicare for All Act. Now is the time to build a healthcare system that works for all of us, not just the wealthy and corporations.
We need to get big money out of politics. I am proud to be endorsed by End Citizens United and support a constitutional amendment to ban SuperPAC spending in federal elections. A level playing field benefits all candidates and puts working and middle-class voices back at the center of our democracy.
It’s a travesty. Americans marched, bled, and fought to secure the Voting Rights Act. Each time it is eroded, Americans lose faith in the power of their vote. I am a proud co-sponsor of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act – legislation that would restore VRA protections, make voter registration easier, and ensure stronger oversight of elections to prevent discrimination.
Climate change is an existential threat. I am proud to support the Green New Deal and have voted for billions in investments for renewable energy and climate adaptation projects. We also need support for our communities that are already experiencing the worst effects of climate disaster. After Hurricane Ida, I helped deliver millions in grant funding for flood mitigation and recovery for vulnerable neighborhoods in Queens. I also brought home over $1 million to create a floating Social-Ecological Resilience Hub in Flushing Bay.
Diplomacy and international cooperation should be at the heart of our foreign policy. In that spirit, I have voted for every War Powers resolution this year to stop Donald Trump’s dangerous wars of choice in Venezuela and Iran. I also support continued American leadership in NATO, assistance to Ukraine as they repel Russian invasion, and continued participation in the United Nations.

1) ICE is terrorizing families and ripping apart communities. I will fight to abolish ICE, rescinding all funding under the OBBBA and cutting future appropriations. Any legitimate public safety functions can be transferred to other agencies with real oversight. I will also fight to create pathways to citizenship for students, temporary workers, people fleeing violence, and undocumented families. 2) Our healthcare system is broken, and too many are one injury or illness away from financial ruin. I will fight to pass Medicare For All to guarantee healthcare for everyone, including vision, dental, and hearing. 3) America has been in a series of endless wars for most of our lifetimes. In Congress, I will vote in favor of the Block the Bombs Act to end Israel’s use of American weapons to kill civilians in Palestine, Lebanon, or anywhere else. I will support legislation like the National Security Reforms and Accountability Act to ensure no President can unilaterally drag our nation into war.
Citizens United has allowed big money to corrupt our politics at all levels of government. Too many politicians are bought and bossed, afraid to take real action to improve their constituents’ lives. Instead of working for the people, many members of Congress spend most of their day calling mega-donors, attending big-ticket fundraisers, and meeting corporate lobbyists. We must fight to end Citizens United and block the unlimited flow of cash into elections. It’s also past time to ban congressional stock trading and enact a federal public matching system for small donors, similar to what exists in New York City. Until we build a better system, I won’t take a penny from corporate PACs, registered lobbyists, or groups like AIPAC that support a foreign interest.
The recent Supreme Court decision in Louisiana v. Callais is a direct blow to democracy. It is also an attack on racial minorities. Democrats must act urgently to preserve free and fair elections. In Congress, I will co-sponsor and vote for the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the fundamental protections of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the For the People Act to protect and expand early voting, voting by mail, and automatic voter registration.
I will push our nation to target a triple-100 within the next decade: 100% coverage across our grid, 100% domestically-produced power, and 100% affordable energy for every American. 100% Coverage: Outages are on the rise due to aging infrastructure, growing demand, and increasing extreme weather events. Every home and every business, across Queens and the rest of America, deserves reliable electricity with zero blackouts and zero interruptions in service. 100% Domestic: American-produced energy strengthens our economy, supports millions of jobs, and keeps our nation secure. By investing in wind, solar, and nuclear, we reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, shielding Americans from price spikes caused by conflicts and market manipulation abroad. 100% Affordable: No family should ever have to choose between paying the bills and keeping the lights on. By embracing modern, low-cost clean energy, we can drive down prices while powering our communities.
The U.S. built the international system in the wreckage of World War II. We led the way in the establishment of the UN and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We formed mutual defense agreements like NATO, but also with South Korea. We cannot move backward. Especially in the case of Palestinian rights, the U.S. has selectively picked and chosen which international norms and laws to disregard and allowed horrendous crimes against humanity to occur. We must continue to engage with the UN, using the Security Council to take action against human rights violations around the world. We must reinforce the NATO alliance, including making sure that other members share the costs of mutual defense. And we must finally ratify the Rome Statute to join the International Criminal Court.
