The 3 biggest challenges facing our country and my district are the crushing cost of living, an out-of-control healthcare system, and threats to Social Security. Working families are squeezed by high bills while politicians like Garbarino support tariffs that act as a tax on groceries. I will address this crisis by cracking down on corporate price gouging, expanding tax credits for working families, and building housing so young people and seniors can stay on LI. On healthcare, I will push to reverse Garbarino’s reckless cuts, fight drug monopolies, and let families buy into Medicare while protecting private options. And we must fix Social Security, currently at risk from Congress’ failure to act. If this inaction continues, SSA's retirement trust fund is projected to be depleted in the next four years. Under current law, that would trigger automatic 22% benefit reductions for millions of retirees who spent their lives paying into this system and depend on their monthly checks.

The federal government’s role should be protecting everyday voters by keeping elections fair, transparent, and free from special-interest corruption. Instead of allowing big money to dictate policy and drive up costs for Long Island families, federal leaders must regulate campaign spending to ensure the government serves working people—not billionaires. That means overturning Citizens United to curb unlimited corporate spending, banning corporate PAC contributions, and ending pay-to-play politics. It also requires enforcing strict ethics standards, including banning congressional stock trading and shutting the revolving door between D.C. and lobbyists. While Andrew Garbarino embraces the swamp by taking tens of thousands from Big Pharma, Wall Street, and private prison PACs, the federal government must restore integrity so Washington answers to local families.

The Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais is a dangerous setback that guts vital Voting Rights Act protections and makes it easier for politicians to rig the system. When our voting rights are eroded, the power of everyday working families is diluted while corporate donors and special interests gain even more influence in D.C. This directly harms Long Island neighborhoods because when the government isn't accountable to voters, politicians focus on protecting billionaires instead of lowering high costs for local families. While Representative Andrew Garbarino has repeatedly voted against measures to protect election integrity, I believe public office is a public trust. In Congress, I will fight to pass federal legislation restoring the Voting Rights Act, overturn Citizens United, and ban corporate PAC money so Washington finally works for working New Yorkers.

To address climate change, the national government must treat coastal resiliency as an affordability priority by investing in flood protection, clean water infrastructure, and storm readiness before the next storm hits. Washington must hold polluters accountable—making chemical companies, not Long Island taxpayers, pay for cleanup—while strengthening standards to protect our clean air and sole-source drinking aquifer. To lower skyrocketing utility bills for working families, the federal government should pursue a common-sense energy strategy that increases supply while protecting our bays and beaches. While Andrew Garbarino sides with polluters, takes money from fossil fuel PACs, and lets FEMA and resiliency funds get gutted, Washington must step up with proactive solutions that protect our homes, lower long-term costs, and keep flood insurance premiums from crushing local families.

America’s responsibility in supporting international institutions like NATO and the UN is to maintain global stability and keep our nation safe without burdening taxpayers. Global engagement must be guided by common sense and a clear commitment to working families: ensuring allies pay their fair share, preventing costly conflicts, and protecting supply chains that keep everyday prices down for Long Island families. When international instability disrupts global trade, local families on the South Shore feel the squeeze at the grocery store and gas pump. While politicians like Andrew Garbarino accept campaign cash from defense contractor PACs while ignoring how D.C. decisions hit household budgets, I believe international leadership must prioritize accountability, security, and economic stability that protects taxpayer dollars and keeps life affordable right here at home.
