Every public school district is governed by a local school board, elected by members of their school district. Every year elections are held to fill school board positions for individuals who have completed their 3-yr term of service. There will be a public budget hearing at 7 p.m., May 7th, at the school. I have been in the Cincinnatus Community the majority of my life. My experiences in Cincy School helped create the woman and mother I am today. Nearly two decades later, my children are doing remarkable things thanks to the support Cincy School gives them. For the last few years, I have been a substitute teacher and assisted coaches in two sports. I feel I have a great connection with the community, the school staff, and students. I would love the opportunity to give back to a community and school district that has given my family so much.
I have a degree in Human Services, and on 5/16, I will have my Bachelor's in Social Work. As we know, many school districts are struggling to provide the Social/Emotional support students need. I believe I can bring a new perspective to the Board of Education's decisions to ensure we are supporting students' Social and Emotional needs. I also am a mother to a child with special needs, and I feel my experiences with Cincy's special education department can bring light to areas where we are successful, but also could use improvement. With a seat on the Board of Education, I plan to help support inclusivity for all children.
