I am an Educator. I received a B.S. Degree from Jacksonville State University; MS. Degree and Certification in Administration from UAB and Post-Graduate hours. My years as an Educator coupled with my experiences as a Poll Worker qualifies me for the position as Secretary of State. I bring a working knowledge of the responsibilities the position entails. There are Seven Divisions that the Secretary of State is responsible for overseeing. I believe the 2026 and 2028 Elections are going to be tremendously scrutinized. As a Poll Worker, I began as a Clerk, promoted to Inspector and then to Chief Inspector. Former State Auditor Jim Zeigler appointed me to be on the Board of Registrar. I bring knowledge and experience to this position!
Whether or not if it's widespread, a little is too much! I believe the entire Election process may need to be overhaul. When I was Chief Inspector, I had to fire one of the Poll Workers because he violated the Oath he had taken. I would implement having Town Hall Meetings in every County addressing issues that Voters would need clarity and give them an opportunity to ask questions. I would "Pen" a Quarterly Report giving updated information of events to keep the voters informed and knowledgeable. I was invited and attended an Executive Committee Republican Meeting, and I asked the attendees "What are the responsibilities of the Secretary of State?" No one could answer! Teaching would enhance voters' awareness of issues concerning fraud.
There are Veterans and Senior Citizens, who reside in Nursing Homes and Assistant Living Facilities, who voted prior to the place of their residency changing. Upon doing my research, I found that the Photo Voter ID Mobile Unit, is not operational. Therefore, Seniors/Veterans, whose Driver License expired while in a facility, are unable to vote in Elections. One of the top priorities for me would be to implement a plan that I have already designed to meet the needs of this population of voters. They should not be excluded.
A felon charged with certain non-disqualifying felons can have their right to vote restored. An individual should first determine his/her voter registration status, check on whether they need to register to vote. Under the U.S. VOTE Foundation there is a number to call for more information. Former Secretary of State Merrill said that "people are disqualified because of a disqualifying felony; that's a disqualification due to choice that that individual made." Alabama was 4th in the Nation where felons were not allowed to vote (2022). When I was a classroom teacher there was a program called "Scared Straight." Non-violent prisoners went to schools to talk to students about staying out trouble. This program should be brought back to schools.
The Theme of my Candidacy is: A Grassroot Candidate of Truth "A Standard of EXCELLENCE" Voting Integrity...FOR THE PEOPLE! For me it's God, Family and Country! I am Conservative because I am a Christian! I was blessed to have parents given to me by God who led by examples of hard work, which produces character and integrity. They demonstrated how to live that I emulate in my life and my relationships with ALL people...we are ALL Created in the image and likeness of God! Our Founding Fathers established this Nation and America on the principles of The Holy Bible. I believe you can achieve a dream, or a vision by hard work... "If you can believe whatever God has put in your heart, you can achieve whatever you strive to accomplish."
