Student safety must be the foundation of our schools—without it, learning cannot happen. We need a balanced approach focused on prevention, accountability, and real support.
I would strengthen behavioral systems with clear, consistently enforced discipline and early intervention. We must expand mental health resources, including counselors and community partnerships, so students get help before reaching a crisis.
Safety for staff and students cannot be compromised. Educators need the training, support, and authority to maintain safe classrooms, with real consequences when safety is threatened.
Finally, transparency matters. Parents deserve clear communication, and the district must follow through with accountability and action.
Decisions about books should be thoughtful, transparent, and focused on students—not politics. I support clear, consistent review policies that involve educators, parents, and community input. Materials should be age-appropriate, academically relevant, and reflect a range of perspectives, while respecting parental rights.
At the same time, we shouldn’t rush to remove books based on isolated concerns. There must be a fair review process with defined criteria, not reactionary decisions. Parents should have options for their own children, but we must be careful about limiting access for all students.
The goal is balance—protecting students while preserving educational value, critical thinking, and trust in the process.
As an attorney, teacher, and parent, I know teacher pay and benefits directly impact student success. I would prioritize competitive compensation by advocating for raises tied to retention and performance, and ensuring education funds are spent in the classroom—not lost in bureaucracy.
I would push for transparent budgeting, stronger contract negotiations, and incentives for hard-to-fill positions. We also need to protect benefits and reduce unnecessary workload so teachers can focus on teaching.
I’ll work with state leaders, unions, and the community to secure sustainable funding and restore respect for the profession—because supporting teachers means supporting students.
