Clark County School Board Trustee District F

County School District Trustees serve on the elected board that governs the fifth-largest school district in the United States. Trustees set district policy, approve the multi-billion-dollar budget, hire and evaluate the superintendent, and provide oversight of curriculum implementation, student services, and district operations. In recent years, school board races nationwide have drawn increased attention as communities debate issues such as curriculum standards, parental involvement, student safety, library materials, teacher support, and how schools address diversity and inclusion. Because trustees influence how these policies are implemented locally — and how schools balance educational quality, transparency, and community values — these races play a significant role in shaping the direction of public education and maintaining trust between families and the district.Note: This is a nonpartisan race. The designation only applies to the office, and does not reflect the political affiliations of the candidates.

Student safety must always come first. I support policies that create safe, secure, and supportive school environments for all students and staff. This includes strong campus security measures, updated safety plans, regular staff training, and partnerships with local law enforcement and emergency responders.

Safety also includes mental and emotional well-being. I support increased access to counselors, social workers, and programs that address bullying, violence prevention, and student mental health.

Clear accountability is essential. School districts must regularly review safety procedures, communicate openly with families, and ensure schools are prepared to respond to emergencies.

Decisions about school books should be thoughtful, balanced, and focused on students’ educational needs. I support clear policies that include educators, parents, and community input while ensuring materials are age-appropriate and academically valuable.

Parents deserve a voice, which is why increased parent involvement is important in the review process. At the same time, decisions should not be driven by politics or individual opinions alone. Established review procedures must guide concerns about materials fairly and transparently.

School boards must balance parental rights, educational freedom, and access to diverse perspectives.
As a school board member, I would continue advocating for full and equitable funding for public education so we can better support competitive teacher pay and strong benefits. Attracting and retaining quality educators requires salaries and benefits that reflect the important work they do.

I also support modernizing our state’s tax policy to create more sustainable revenue for education. Long-term solutions are necessary to ensure schools have the resources needed to invest in teachers and classrooms.

In addition, I would work collaboratively with district leadership, employee groups, and state lawmakers to prioritize teacher compensation and improve working conditions.

My experience in Facilities and with my wife being an educator, I’d focus on a facility first approach to safety, by securing perimeters, upgrading surveillance, and ensuring single points of entry. Beyond infrastructure, we should expand mental health resources and restorative justice programs to help address the root causes of conflict. So by blending physical security with a supportive school culture, we create environments where students and staff feel protected.
Ny experience and leadership over many specialty trades has taught me trust in our experts. I trust the expertise of our licensed librarians and educators to curate age appropriate collections. Decisions should follow established, transparent policies based on educational merit, not personal or political pressure. While as a parent, we have every right to guide our own child’s reading, that choice should not restrict access for other students or undermine the freedom to read.
I’ll advocate for a classroom first budget that prioritizes direct funding for student outcomes. When I took the role as Director of facilities, the first thing I did was lean out our administrators. Now, managing CCSD’s 2nd largest department with the leanest administration in the district, I’ve proven we can streamline operations to reinvest in teacher autonomy and fair pay. I will push for sustainable state funding, competitive salaries, and protected benefits. It’s important that we treat our educators as the experts they are, to ensure we recruit and retain the very best for our students.
