Public Safety will always be a top priority with the City of Henderson. As a public servant with over 22 years serving our community as a police officer, I am uniquely qualified to ensure our community safety standards and efforts are maintained. We must ensure competitive wages, quality equipment, and retention efforts, so our officers and professional staff feel valued and supported. Transparency with our elected officials combined with valuing each member’s contributions and respecting our differences. Leadership starts with a city council that is diverse in thought and cares about the greater good of our community members over special interests. Truth, trust, and transparency must be the cornerstones of our governance.
I support public-private partnerships that can work towards building quality single family, energy efficient, owner-occupied homes for a working class. No more rentals or corporate owned housing. We must ensure we are supporting our community members who want to work in Henderson and raise their families. These homes should not be high density and should allow for a quality living space while only being 30 percent of the gross income of each household. It is imperative we focus on our community members’ needs and how to overcome this crisis as a team. I support policies and initiatives that partner the City of Henderson with quality builders who want to provide housing options for our community members without pushing profit over people.
We must do our best as a city to provide services that allow every member of our community the opportunity to live a healthy life. The entire Las Vegas Valley must work together to identify 24/7 resources centers, community outreach, and specialized supportive housing. Mental health and addiction services and treatment programs are crucial resources that must be funded to assist with homeless issues in our valley. Our valley has tremendous non-profit organizations that work to help with the homelessness crisis and partnering with these organizations will provide tremendous resources and positive results. With all endeavors, working together as a team to identify resources for our homeless community members will benefit the entire City.
