VOTE411 Voter Guide

Nevada State Assembly District 8

The Nevada State Assembly is the lower chamber of the state Legislature and works alongside the Senate to draft, debate, and enact state laws. All 42 Assembly seats are up for election in 2026, and the Assembly plays a central role in shaping policy on schools, healthcare, housing, jobs, public safety, and state budgeting. Because Assembly members represent local districts and serve two-year terms, these races allow voters to hold lawmakers closely accountable and ensure that policy priorities reflect the needs and values of their communities. These elections matter for democratic representation and for how the state resolves the biggest challenges facing Nevadans.

Immigration is a dignity and civil rights issue. At the state level, I support policies that protect immigrant families and ensure no one is forced into the shadows just to survive.

That means expanding access to healthcare, education, and worker protections regardless of status, strengthening protections against wage theft and exploitation, and investing in legal aid and community-based support. We should also limit cooperation with harmful federal enforcement that breaks up families and erodes trust.

Nevada runs on working people, immigrants included. When we lead with fairness and justice, we build safer communities and a stronger future for all of us.
Redistricting is a civil rights issue. Maps should empower voters, especially Black, Latino, AAPI, and working-class communities, not dilute our voices. I support an independent, transparent process guided by the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to protect fair representation.

I’ll be real, I’m deeply disgusted and frustrated by recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions that weaken voting rights. That moves us backward. We will not go backwards.

Districts should reflect real communities, with strong public input and protections against discrimination. Democracy only works when every voice has power, and I’ll fight to protect that.
If there’s one thing I’m focused on, it’s making housing affordable again. This is a justice issue; working families are being pushed out of the communities they built.

I’d strengthen and expand AB540 to fund deeply affordable and mixed-income housing, prioritize projects near transit and jobs, and streamline approvals so we build faster. We also need tenant protections, anti-displacement policies, and to curb corporate bulk home buying that drives up costs.

Housing is a humanitarian right to ALL people, not only to the wealthy. We should be building a Nevada where every family can stay, grow, and thrive in the city we built.
