I am the owner of three high rated quality childcare facilities and an educator in District 6, where I am supporting our youngest learners and helping them build a strong academic foundation. My experience working directly with children, teachers and families has strengthen my understanding of the needs for ongoing academic support for our children within our Nashville community. With a billion dollar MNPS school budget, my focus also includes reviewing how resources are managed, along with topics such as creating safer schools, supporting teachers and staff and examining compensation factors that influence educator recruitment and retention and prioritizing efforts that support children reading on grade level. Strengthening the relationship between Metro Nashville Public School and the community requires a multi-faceted approach that moves from passive information-sharing to active, reciprocal partnership. My strategy centers on leveraging existing frameworks while introducing more direct community collaboration.

My goal is to continue showing up—consistently and intentionally—for our students, families, and staff to make sure their voices are not just heard, but reflected in the decisions we make on their behalf.
That means creating real, ongoing opportunities for engagement—spaces where we can have open, honest conversations grounded in accurate, transparent academic data. People deserve clear information and a seat at the table, and I’m committed to making sure both are non-negotiables.
At the same time, I will continue to advocate aggressively at the state and federal levels for equitable funding that truly meets the needs of all of our students—especially those in underserved communities who have been asked to do more with less for far too lo
By consistently showing up for my community and listening more than I speak to get a full understanding about the issues that are most important to our families. Continuing to hold space to engage families in a way that feels safe and they feel heard.
My interest in education began as a mother that understood that education is a partnership between parents, students and educators. I joined the PTO's at my children's schools to ensure that I was able to support and advocate for them and their teachers as needed. Followed by being asked to join several MNPS parent groups to advocate for all parents, and finally to the school board where I spend my time advocating for all of our students and families as the Legislative Liaison for the Board of Education. This provides an opportunity for me to speak directly with law makers about the impact of their decisions on students and families before a law is passed.
That students are known, along with parents feeling like they are welcomed into schools their children attend. That they have the information they need to make students successful in their journey. Making sure teachers and the support staff feel seen and heard. I feel it is important that this collaboration be in sync so that as we can agree that our students are our top priority.
Go into not only the schools but have monthly meetings inviting parents and the community at large to not only express their concerns but also together come up with solutions that make a successful connection for students, parents, teachers and the support staff. It takes all to make school successful.
I drove an MNPS school bus for the past 14 years, being inside the schools daily, working and taking care of students from K-12. As a parent of two grandmother of seventeen and great grandmother of eleven it's been and will always be important to me. I feel it is not only important to prepare students for college but also if their journey goes to the working world and be a success.
