I bring a combination of real administrative experience and direct, hands-on work that aligns with the Clerk’s office. I’ve spent 40 years serving this city, managing budgets, leading teams, passing legislation, and building programs that deliver results. I’ve worked my way from administrative assistant to executive leadership, so I understand how an office runs at every level. I’m also the only active notary in this race, with four decades of experience and over a decade deputized to perform marriages. Everything this office is responsible for, I’ve done in some form throughout my career. I’m ready to lead on day one and build on what’s already working.
The office is functioning well, so my focus is not to overhaul it, but to strengthen it. That means making services faster by streamlining processes, fully cross-training staff, and expanding what can be done online. It means improving accessibility by ensuring services reach all parts of Davidson County, including exploring a satellite office in Bellevue and supporting language access. And it means increasing transparency by introducing a public dashboard with real-time performance metrics and a State of the Clerk’s Office report so residents can clearly see how the office is performing. These are practical steps that build on a strong foundation.
A fair and independent judiciary means that decisions are made based on the law and the facts, not politics, pressure, or personal influence. It requires impartiality, integrity, and a commitment to equal justice for everyone, regardless of background or status. While the Clerk’s office is not part of the judiciary, it plays an important role in supporting the legal system through accurate recordkeeping and accessible services. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness when interacting with any part of government, and that standard should extend across the entire system.

As a long term Nashvillian and former Council Member, I have utilized the County Clerk Services more than any other candidate. Combined with my Personal Experience, Education and Professional Experience, I am the best candidate to provide excellent and modernization services to our neighbors as they enter the doors at the County Clerk Office for efficient customer services.
Absolutely, however, first I would complete a series of surveys and collect data with the Nashville Neighbors, the County Clerk Employees prior to developing a Plan to implement policies, procedures to address the concerns.

I began my professional political career with the Al Gore 2000 Presidential campaign. I continued my political career first as the Voter Outreach Coordinator and then as the Political Director at the Tennessee Democratic Party until 2008. I was State Director of the Tennessee Change that Works campaign from 2008-2010.
From 2010 to 2018, I was the Political Director of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 205. In April 2018, I joined Mayor David Briley’s administration and continued for the transition for Mayor Cooper’s administration.
Currently, I serve on the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools Board of Education as Chair. I was the Vice Chair for two years and former Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee for four years representing District 7. I worked full time as the Executive Director of Emerge Tennessee.
As County Clerk, my top three priorities will be simple - good governance, smarter technology, and protecting the institutional knowledge built by my predecessor, Brenda Wynn, who has endorsed my candidacy.
Good governance means knowing that the County Clerk’s office works for every resident of Davidson County. I will work for shorter wait times, extended satellite office hours across the county, streamlined business licensing for local entrepreneurs and transparent budgeting so that taxpayers can easily understand where their hard-earned dollars are used.
As Clerk, I’ll modernize our technology to expand online services so that more Clerk functions can be accessed from anywhere. And, I’ll work on upgrading existing systems to make every interaction faster and easier - because your time matters.
