1. Ensure Fair and Transparent Property Assessments Property taxes are one of the most significant financial obligations for residents. I would prioritize: • Accurate, data-driven assessments that reflect real market values • Clear explanations of how assessments are calculated • A simple, accessible appeals process so homeowners feel heard and treated fairly The goal is to build trust, so residents understand they’re paying their fair share—not more, not less. 2. Modernize and Digitize Public Services Many Recorder-Clerk services (property records, vital records, filings) can be slow or confusing. I would: • Expand secure online access to records and services • Reduce wait times with better systems and staffing efficiency • Implement user-friendly digital tools while maintaining strong data privacy protections This would make it easier for residents, businesses, and professionals to interact with the office without unnecessary friction. 3. Improve Public Access and Community Outreach Government offices often feel hard to navigate. I would focus on: • Multilingual support and clearer public guidance • Outreach programs to educate homeowners, seniors, and first-time buyers about exemptions and services • Stronger customer service standards across all departments The aim is to make the office approachable and genuinely helpful to everyone in the county.
I have had the privilege of serving as your Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk for eight years. When asked, I always say this job provides me the ability to protect our seniors, support young families, and serve the community I love—because at its core, our work is about taking care of our residents. Every day I get to make a positive impact in someone’s life, and it really doesn’t get any better than that. In my county role, I have prioritized fair and accurate property assessments, excellent customer service, transparency, and modernization (especially now around cybersecurity). I am most proud to have implemented: 1) a tool that highlights and maps Marin’s historic practice of housing segregation (which is now being used for classroom education), and 2) a highly successful program to protect Marin homeowners from fraud. Through this unique perspective, I’ve also addressed broader needs. As California Assessor Association Legislative Chair, I’ve helped steer state policies to protect residents. An upcoming priority is a statewide transparency bill to provide accountability and protection for locally dedicated resources. Marin County deserves experienced, steady leadership rooted in the community. I respectfully ask for your vote for re-election, so I can continue serving Marin with dedication, fairness, and accountability.
