My priorities come directly from what families in District 5 tell me every day. First, I want safer, cleaner, and more stable neighborhoods. That means addressing illegal dumping, improving lighting, supporting small businesses, and making sure our parks and streets are cared for. Second, I want a more responsive city government. Residents deserve timely answers, clear communication, and services that actually work. Third, I want to strengthen opportunities for working families, seniors, and youth by improving access to housing, transportation, and community programs. I will focus on practical solutions that make daily life better for the people who live and work here.
I have more than 15 years of public‑service experience in state government, including roles at the California Student Aid Commission, the Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, and the Department of Industrial Relations. My work has focused on analyzing complex data, improving government systems, and helping thousands of residents access essential services. I am fluent in English and Spanish and have spent my career helping diverse communities navigate state programs and resolve problems. I grew up in South Sacramento, graduated from Luther Burbank High School, and raised my family here. I understand our neighborhoods because they are my home. I know how government works, and I know how to make it work better for the people it serves.
Sacramento’s long‑term water security depends on protecting and replenishing our groundwater. I support policies that expand groundwater recharge projects, improve stormwater capture, and strengthen coordination between the city and regional water agencies. I also believe water policy must be equitable. Many communities in District 5 have older infrastructure and higher vulnerability to climate impacts. I will support decisions that prioritize investments in underserved neighborhoods, ensure fair access to clean and reliable water, and include community voices in planning and oversight.
Yes. New development must be responsible and sustainable. I support requiring clear, verifiable water‑supply plans before major projects are approved. Sacramento cannot continue approving growth without ensuring we have the water infrastructure to support it. This protects existing neighborhoods, prevents strain on groundwater, and ensures long‑term stability for the entire city.
I support giving voters more voice and more choice, and I believe ranked‑choice voting is worth serious consideration. It has been adopted in many cities across the country and is designed to ensure majority winners and reduce the need for costly, low‑turnout runoffs. At the same time, it is important that Sacramento voters fully understand how the system works and have access to clear voter education before any change is made. If voters choose to adopt ranked‑choice voting, I will support a smooth and transparent transition.
