Butte County Assessor
The Assessor is responsible for identifying and assessing the value of all taxable property within the county, tracking ownership, and publishing annual and supplemental assessment rolls. The Assessor’s office maintains maps of parcel boundaries, updates physical characteristics, applies legal exemptions, and tracks sales prices, construction costs, and rents to estimate the fair value of assessable property. The Assessor does not establish tax rates, calculate tax amounts, or collect taxes. Term of office: Four years. Base Salary (2024): $158,721.
