Lawyer
I have over a decade of experience as a criminal defense attorney with the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office, where I have handled serious and complex felony cases, including violent offenses, jury trials, evidentiary hearings, and negotiated resolutions. My work requires a deep understanding of constitutional law, evidentiary rules, and the real world impact court decisions have on individuals, families, and public safety.
I have spent my career in the courtroom, advocating for fairness, due process, and accountability. I approach every case with thorough preparation, careful listening, and respect for all parties involved. This experience has given me a balanced perspective on the justice system, understanding both the need for community safety and the importance of protecting individual rights.
My commitment to the law began early in life and has remained unwavering. I worked hard to put myself through law school and built my career through dedication and service. I am prepared to serve as a judge who applies the law fairly, treats every person with dignity, and makes thoughtful, well reasoned decisions.
Fresno County courts are staffed by hardworking judges and court personnel who are committed to public service. Many departments manage heavy caseloads efficiently, and there has been progress in expanding specialty courts and services that address underlying issues such as mental health and substance use.
At the same time, there is room for improvement. Delays and backlogs can impact timely access to justice for victims, defendants, and families. Continued efforts to improve efficiency while maintaining fairness are important. Additionally, ensuring that all individuals feel heard and respected in the courtroom is critical to maintaining public trust in the judicial system.
Improving access to resources, enhancing courtroom consistency, and continuing to support programs that reduce recidivism will strengthen outcomes for the entire community. As a judge, I would focus on maintaining efficiency while ensuring that every decision is made carefully, fairly, and with respect for the law and the people it serves.
